Flying Cloud at Anchor

Original art by Susan Feniak  water color on 7” x 10”  “Canson” “Mix Media” 98lb paper

It has been a rather wet day.  I did not feel like working at the computer so I decided to play.  But take up a challenge too.  Time to tackle a more complicated water color.  This one with all the angles and details was indeed a challenge.  Hopefully I was up to the task.  It was also a bit of an experiment, using a mixture of tubed water colors, pan water colors and my water color pencils.  I have a limited selection of pencil colors.  I also used a fan brush, small round brush and a q-tip.  There is a couple of different sized Archival ink pens involved and a silver felt pen for the chrome on Flying Cloud. As my own critic it seems to me I am just as heavy handed with water colors as I am with acrylics.  Color and lots of it.  I did have fun and that is the main thing.

Good job on your perspective, Susan. I have been drawing corners of the rooms in my home, today, for practice. I think you captured the foreshortening on this boat pretty well. This, I know is a difficult angle with so much of one side showing.

Thank you David. Not sure about WC being my forte, yet. I still get frustrated and it takes me way longer then working with acrylics. I will keep practicing. Hey I had fun too.
