“The Dream Was”

Original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 16” x 20” box canvas.

Recently my Mother expressed an interest in having one of my paintings.  She told me which wall she would like to hang it on and which paintings she preferred.  We settled on “The Homestead”.  But then I started to think about my Mother and the things she likes.  She has often referred to a dream that was to be a part of my parents retirement years.  That dream was to retire by the water somewhere and live in an “A” frame house or cabin.  Sadly that dream has never come true.  I have attempted to paint that dream.  Not an easy task because this is my concept of what that dream may have been and not perhaps what my Mother has envisioned all these years.  If nothing else it is bright and cheery and it includes some of my Mother’s favourite flowers, yellow daisies.

Cheers, Susan

Thank you so much Violet! It wasn’t easy to paint especially since it is my Mother’s dream and not mine. I have been away. Will try and get caught up soon. Cheers!! XX 🙂

What a wonderful thing to do; paint your Mother’s dream. I’m clapping. The sentiment will matter the most, not if you captured her vision. I like to think you extended her vision. Also, it is probably wonderful for her that you heard her and remembered. Nice painting!
