Belize Skiff

It is finished.  I am very happy with how the Caribbean colors came to life in this painting. To get depth into the shallow water surrounding the boat and to make it even look like water I tried my hand at scumbling.  I used the same technique for the shadows and the shade from the palm trees too.  I am sure I have tackled that before now but I didn’t have a name for it.  Patience and a light touch required!  I hope this painting leaves you feeling warm and sunny!  Cheers, Susan

Wonderful work Susan. Being a lover of the sea, you’ve depicted it and the sky so well.

I really like the warm colors you chose for the foreground shadows. I think it helps to place the scene in the tropics with more than just the title and the palm fronds. The clouds in the background are beautiful, Susan.
