Out of Season

Sneaking in one more before our weekend break. You guessed it we were lucky enough to have another stellar day. Time for some sitting in the sunshine and more scribbling in my sketch book. This time the end result was this jaunty Red Cardinal. A little out of season but why not? The Neos provided me with just the right color. Enjoy you weekend. Cheers, Susan

I have a few cardinals in my backyard, and I agree it’s nice bird to paint, however, my favorites are chickadees. It looks like there are usually two males and one female, at least that’s how I saw them. They have nice song, as well. I love watching birds, even sparrows. I didn’t know they were not everywhere in NA, but maybe your place is not having any colder weather?

Thank you Inese. We do get cold weather and snow. But maybe not enough for cardinals. I like to paint chickadees too. We have lots of them here.

We don’t get Cardinals either. I sure would love to see one in the wild. It doesn’t matter if it’s a season. Anytime is good for such a cheery sketch!

I love these birds! But in the UK we don’t have such a colourful garden bird – it must be amazing to see these all the time!

I have never actually seen one! So lucky you. Other than Christmas they are always out of season here.

Cardinals are year-round birds for us so I never associate them with a particular season; anytime is a good time for them! Yours provided a perfect punch of color for today!
