National BraveHearts Day. This day is to honor the bravery of the children and their families who are coping with pediatric cancer. As well as their caregivers. No child should ever have to face any illness especially not cancer. My doodlewash today means a lot to me. This is my teddy bear, Fitsimmons. He kept me company while I was sick with cancer. If I could give every child in hospital a teddy bear I would. You see Teddy bears are very special. They keep you company when you are all alone and very sick. They are the best listeners. You can tell them anything, even secrets, and they won’t tell another living soul. They hug you and love you when you need it the most. Because it is hard to be brave. Fitsimmons is holding a heart full of love for every Braveheart today. Please take a moment to remember April 28th and what it means to a sick child. Thank you.

Lovely words and teddy bear Susan :-). Calgary has a really beautiful Children’s Hospital but it still feels so sad that some children have to suffer so much at such a young age, and their parents too. Teddy bears are really good listeners and give excellent hugs. Glad yours shared some love with you when you needed it.

Thank you. Yes it is uplifting to know there are such excellent hospitals and caregivers for children and adults alike. Cheers to the caregivers, nurses, doctors and support staff who give so much of themselves.

Thank you my friend. Much appreciated. This post wasn’t meant to be about me. Perhaps I should have just tried to make Fitsimmons my teddy bear less personal. Oh well. As long as we both succeeded in bringing hope to the bravehearts this day. XX

You both did! And it’s the personal passion that makes the message all the more powerful. Hope and love to the bravehearts everywhere. 💕

Thank you. Not sure how to respond. I am proud to be a survivor and am passionate about living life to the fullest. Bringing attention to a child’s bravery dealing with something as overwhelming as cancer then my teddy and I have succeeded even if in a minuscule way. XX

What a sweet teddy you have shared Susan. No child should ever have to suffer through cancer. I can’t believe how epidemic it’s become. I agree about giving out teddy bears to every sick child. It would be awesome. I’m a cancer survivor as well. Sending you blessings and hugs! Have a wonderful day! 💕

….you have provided inspiration visually and testimonially today, Susan—two weeks ago I purchased and then planted The Never Alone Rosebush https://neveralonefoundation.ca/never-alone-rose/. Your post today reminded me of its importance. Thank you!
