My mind started wandering to where my next painting might take me. At 2 a.m. I found myself standing at my easel slathering great gobs of Golden Gel Mediums, Soft Gel (gloss), Acrilex Gloss Gel mixed with Golden acrylics Cerulean Blue, Bone Black and Titanium White. I spread it all with a defunct points card on a 18” x 24” canvas. What fun!! What a mess! How does one clean up that in the middle of the night without waking up the snoring hubby? I wanted to do more but there was a long drying time. Its a wonder it dried at all!! Today I played some more with it mixing and swirling more color and texture. This is the end result. Of course you probably can’t see all the texture but its there. This was something completely different for me. Maybe tonight I can sleep. Original art by Susan Feniak
I love this kind of expressive work, Susan. It looks very telling, knowing the story behind the painting. The bottom half looks like turmoil and unrest and the top half looks like the sleep and the peacefulness sought. Love the textures you created! 🙂

Now this is definitely a good use of sleeplessness – I see the texture and can smell the sea breeze. Talk about creativity, very cool. Sleepless nights come to my house almost every night – what is it about us women anyways?!

If we knew perhaps we would be rich and well rested! Thank you for your kind words Mary.

I see the sea too. Yay for texture products plus acrylics! We are on a roll, Susan! Me too, lately. Wonderful way to spend a restless night. Roll on!

Yay texture!! I had lots of fun considering the time of night. I should be crediting you Laura for the texture idea. Roll on!! Sleep would be a nice option. Lol

A good use for insomnia…I usually read and drink tea! Definitely evokes the sea. (K)

I am a late night painter, mainly because it is a good solid 6 hrs for my own. I find it my most productive time and creativity comes to me in the dark, lol I can see creativity visited you at that early hr, and was very generous , you were on fire 😀 Great texture and movement, I love it…..although I don’t advise doing it regularly, crash point always catches up. But I am an advocate of if you can’t sleep, might as well get up and do something….something magical appears. ❤️❤️

Aww thank you Rebecca. The crash point does eventually arrive doesn’t it. But in the meantime no point fighting it. Create best time for it. Lol

Yes, I am sleepless often so may start creating at night. Might as well. That’s when I seem to have the time. Lol

Sleepless nights… I have many of those myself. Maybe I should try painting. Obviously if was a good thing for you because this looks so interesting! You probably had a great time! 😊👍🏻

Sleepless nights aren’t fun when there are many. There are far too many here too. If all else fails Rhonda give painting a try. Might as well be doing something constructive is my take on it. Thank you for your kind comment. 🙂

It’s ever so exciting to paint in the night. Like the shoemaker. The extra magic really shows in your painting.
