Finding solace in my art

I am fortunate to have my art. Since I started painting in 2009 it’s always gotten me through the tuff times in life. This week I found solace once again. Like taking small steps everyday to move on I started with small things like cards. I then moved onto a bigger canvas. I will share photos of that when I am done but I am sharing photos of the four cards I made. The cards are now available at Rikki Lou Who’s Gift Emporium downtown Salmon Arm on Alexander St.

Artist Susan Feniak. QoR watercolors and ink on Strathmore card stock. “one of a kind” 4″ x 6″

New old and sold…

New card
Old and going to a new home
Sold

The Daisies are a new card. Something I haven’t been making lately. The Heron or “Misty Morning”, will be heading to a new home soon. I gave it away to very good friends as a wedding gift and now it will be going to a baby’s nursery. Just waiting for when that bundle of joy arrives. The small boat painting is sold. Ergo, new old and sold….

The artist for all is me, Susan Feniak. Sometimes I don’t have time for blogging or all the social media. At the moment I am without internet. News from me will be even more sporadic. For that I will apologize.

Happy Monday! Cheers

World Watercolor Month Day 27

#WorldWatercolorMonth Day 27 prompt “Camouflage”. Our local great Blue Heron keeps himself well hidden in the long grass beside the water. Fascinating, unless he moved no one noticed him there. Artist Susan Feniak. QoR watercolors and ink on Strathmore card stock. 4″ x 6″.

Thrilled!

I am thrilled to say that three of my paintings were juried into The Federation of Canadian Artists Curated online Show July and August. This is a big step in the right direction for me. I entered my work some time ago and by the time I learned that all three had been accepted Waves Brilliant Dance had sold. Ergo I had to withdraw that painting. Overseer and Tulip Glow are still available for sale in show. To see the online show try http://www.artists.ca or http://www.federationgallery.com I have a link on my Facebook page as well.

Cheers Susan Feniak

The Red Barn Arts Center annual show

It’s almost time for the annual arts and crafts sale at The Red Barn Arts Center in Sicamous BC. I will have four paintings in the show this year along with several of my “one of a kind” hand painted greeting cards. If you are anywhere near Sicamous June 29th thru July 4th, please take the time to pop by and have a look. It’s well worth your time and effort. It is your chance to purchase from and support the many very talented artists and artisans of the Shuswap area. Cheers Susan Feniak

Tote bags, a birthday card and my oh my what morning!

A new shipment of tote bags arrived the other day. I am happy with them. I don’t normally make prints of my art but I think these tote bags will help promote my art. Heavy-duty canvas and washable. If you are interested follow the instructions below. The Heron was a birthday card for a friend. And that view? That is mine this morning. From the aft deck of our houseboat looking at beautiful Mara Lake. Happy Sunday everyone. Cheers Susan

“Overseer” from beginning to framing…

“Overseer”

My painting “Overseer”, is framed and hanging in our living room, for now. The photos will give you some idea of my process, and the actual size of the finished painting. As a rule I take very few photos of my process. I have never done a video or made a podcast. This is as good as it gets. “Overseer” is acrylic on 24″ x 24″ gallery canvas, varnished. The frame is pre-made from Opus. It’s wood and black. My reference photo was kindly provided by nature photographer Mark Schroeder.

To ask Susan Feniak about this painting or any of her other pieces please email sfeniakart@gmail.com

“Overseer”

“Overseer “

Overseer, my latest painting is finished. I would like to thank nature photographer Mark Schroeder for the reference photo. This Great Blue Heron is a frequent visitor to the Sicamous Channel Shuswap Lake BC. I try to paint it’s portrait at least once a year. With this portrait I may have finally paid this majestic bird some justice. I hope you like it.

Artist Susan Feniak. Acrylic on 24″ x 24″ gallery canvas. Framed, asking $500.00 plus shipping.
