“Sail Away”

Drying on my easel, “Sail Away”. I took a bit of a break after World Watercolor Month and a very busy July. Of a sudden yesterday I had the urge to put palette knife, brush and paint to canvas. Oh joy! Artist Susan Feniak. Golden Artist Acrylics and heavy gel gloss on a 20″ x 20″ canvas. There is a lot of texture in this one. And it was a lot of fun, I even used a credit card to spread and smear the paint. A true escape from the trial and tribulations this past few weeks have thrown at us. Let me know what you think. Cheers Susan

I tweaked “Sail Away”. Now I can say that I am happy with it. It’s ready for a frame, so that will be next. Cheers Susan

Finished “At Last”

At Last

Finished my first painting of 2021. “At Last” is our houseboat sitting pretty at Robert’s Bay on beautiful Shuswap Lake. I took the reference photo late last summer. It was an idyllic calm morning. Barely a ripple on the lakes surface. Perfect for reflections. I had fun re-creating those reflections. These days our girl is waiting for the sunny warm days to return and so are we. I am keeping this painting. It will hang in our land home to remind us of those sun and fun filled days of the past and to look forward to in the future. Artist Susan Feniak. Acrylic on 18″ x 24″ gallery canvas. FYI If you would like a painting of your boat, I do commissions.

First WIP of 2021

WIP

My first painting of 2021 is in progress on my easel. It’s coming together ever so slowly. The photo reference is my own taken late last summer of our houseboat at beautiful Robert’s Bay on Shuswap Lake. It was an idyllic morning with the lake perfectly calm and flat. Reflections galore! Golden Artist Acrylics on an 18″ x 24″ gallery canvas. When this painting is finally done it’s not going anywhere. It will hang on our living room wall.

REVISED “Dock Time”

REVISED “Dock Time”

Yet another revision and more tweaking and I think that I can call this one done. But you never know. “Dock Time” is the view we enjoy from the forward deck of our boat. I have taken some liberties with the scene and ignored the peripheral mess or mass of details like condos, other marinas, docks, pilings and more. Instead I have focused on this cluster of boats on the dock at Three Buoys Marina on the channel in Sicamous. The Bruhn Bridge and train bridge are in the distance. Enjoy. Cheers Susan Feniak. Acrylic on 20″ x 20″ x 1.5″ canvas. Asking $250.

“Dock Time”

Dock Time

New! Still drying on my easel. “Dock Time”. I have painted and shared the view from our aft deck of Mara Lake. This time I have painted the scene from our forward deck. I am talking of the Sicamous channel. I used a lot of artistic freedom and chose to ignore all the peripheral condo buildings, marinas, docks, and pilings. Instead I focused on one dock and the boats there. It’s Three Buoys Marina looking toward Bruhn Bridge on hwy 1, a.k.a. Trans Canada Hwy, and the train bridge. The train bridge opens and closes to let boats go through to Shuswap Lake. Acrylic on 20″ x 20″ x 1.5″ canvas. Asking $250

I’ve been on hiatus…

My husband and I enjoyed our ten days off. We spent our vacation on our houseboat at Robert’s Bay Provincial Park Shuswap Lake British Columbia. I took many photos. These are only a few. We are very fortunate to live in such a beautiful area of Canada. Proud to be Canadian! Especially during these challenging times. Cheers Susan Feniak

World Watercolor Month 2020 Day 26

Rhythm of My Heart

World Watercolor Month Day 26 prompt “Favorite Song”. We are a music loving household. That made it difficult to choose one song. There have been so many artists that we have listened to over many years. Our play list is long and varied. There is one song that I sing to myself often enough to single out and that is Rhythm of My Heart by Rod Stewart. The verse and the bagpipes pull at my heart. I created this painting with QoR watercolors and Pixma Micron ink on Strathmore card stock.
