I went with a totally different name than I originally thought. Just glad to finally have a title for my painting, “Tulip Glow”. Sometimes naming or giving a title to one’s art can be more difficult than it seems. Or even should be. I wanted to avoid the word “Spring” in the title simply because that seemed to limit the painting to one season. Why not enjoy a bright and cheerful painting all year long? Artist Susan Feniak. Acrylic on 18″ x 24″. Asking $250 plus shipping.

Reaching or Baker’s Dozen? I am not sure of the name yet. But if you need a touch of spring here it is. It’s been awhile since I did a painting of flowers. Now I remember why it’s been so long. They drive me crazy. But as always I did enjoy the creative process. It’s bright and cheerful. Something we can all use. Spring will come it always does. Cheers Susan

My painting “Overseer”, is framed and hanging in our living room, for now. The photos will give you some idea of my process, and the actual size of the finished painting. As a rule I take very few photos of my process. I have never done a video or made a podcast. This is as good as it gets. “Overseer” is acrylic on 24″ x 24″ gallery canvas, varnished. The frame is pre-made from Opus. It’s wood and black. My reference photo was kindly provided by nature photographer Mark Schroeder.

Overseer, my latest painting is finished. I would like to thank nature photographer Mark Schroeder for the reference photo. This Great Blue Heron is a frequent visitor to the Sicamous Channel Shuswap Lake BC. I try to paint it’s portrait at least once a year. With this portrait I may have finally paid this majestic bird some justice. I hope you like it.

Finished my first painting of 2021. “At Last” is our houseboat sitting pretty at Robert’s Bay on beautiful Shuswap Lake. I took the reference photo late last summer. It was an idyllic calm morning. Barely a ripple on the lakes surface. Perfect for reflections. I had fun re-creating those reflections. These days our girl is waiting for the sunny warm days to return and so are we. I am keeping this painting. It will hang in our land home to remind us of those sun and fun filled days of the past and to look forward to in the future. Artist Susan Feniak. Acrylic on 18″ x 24″ gallery canvas. FYI If you would like a painting of your boat, I do commissions.

My first painting of 2021 is in progress on my easel. It’s coming together ever so slowly. The photo reference is my own taken late last summer of our houseboat at beautiful Robert’s Bay on Shuswap Lake. It was an idyllic morning with the lake perfectly calm and flat. Reflections galore! Golden Artist Acrylics on an 18″ x 24″ gallery canvas. When this painting is finally done it’s not going anywhere. It will hang on our living room wall.

Happy New Year! Wishing you all a happy, healthy and creative 2021. Let’s be positive.
This is a “selfie” of me. I don’t like getting my photo taken nor do I do selphies well. They are something I will rarely share.
The other photo is my “Top Nine” posts on Instagram in 2020. Not my choices but Instagram’s. Interesting and somewhat surprising. I was happy to see my personal favorite “Shine On” a.k.a. Trudy Tortuga made the list. Amazed my watercolors and ink were as popular as they are. Go figure.
Moving on to new projects and I am hopeful the year ahead will be better. Surely being positive will see us through. Cheers Susan
Thank you

Sold and then not sold. Wait a minute and then SOLD. Proving to me that art is a very personal thing. Recently someone took a liking to my painting Raven Trail Autumn. Upon seeing it personally, other then via photo, decided that it wasn’t for them. Not quite right to their decerning eye. No problem, I have a lot of paintings to share. After being shown Raven Trail Birch it was, yes please. Ergo I am pleased to say that my painting Raven Trail Birch has SOLD. Thank you to the purchaser and giving my art a lovely forever home. Cheers Susan Feniak

Say hello to Cairo. She is the second of two recently completed commissioned pet portraits. Cairo and her mom loved to go hiking especially in the snow and mountains. Re-creating a snowy mountainous scene was a first for me. Although painting Cairo proved challenging at times I enjoyed the challenge. By the time I was done I didn’t want to let her go. Always and forever a sucker for those puppy dog eyes. Thank you to Mark and Kim for giving me the opportunity and the honor of painting your beloved dogs portraits.
