Acrylic on 11″ x 14″ canvas panel. Last summer while taking a walk on one of my favourite trails I came across this little fellow. He scampered down the tree and scurried into and then out of this moss covered ruin of a tree. All the while he scolded me. I had intruded into his territory. I thought his home looked rather interesting so I have endeavored to duplicate it here. Of course he was rather cute too. Cheers! PEACE

I was going to save this one for April’s Draw A Bird Day but decided to post it now. I can always paint another one right? These two brown pelicans sat in that palm tree keeping my husband company while I was off snorkeling at Silk Caye, Belize. There is a grand total of five palm trees on the wee atoll of Silk Caye, two picnic tables, an outhouse, a couple of barbecues and a lot of pelicans waiting and watching. There really isn’t much for a patient husband to do but wait and watch along with the pelicans. I truly enjoyed my snorkel adventure! My husband? Perhaps not so much.

My latest painting, from a photo I took late last summer along one of my favourite places to walk, Raven Trail, Salmon Arm, B.C. Canada. My home town. The trail meanders along the foreshore of Salmon Arm Bay. It is a nature preserve and bird sanctuary. Sights to behold whilst walking the trail are a beaver dam, and den, assorted wild life and wild fowl that include swans, grebes, geese, blue herons, and last summer a flock of white pelicans visited there. Hope you enjoy the view and get a sense of what a beautiful spot this is from my painting. Cheers, Susan

Yes, another memory of Belize! I can’t help myself. White sandy beaches, the beautiful waters of the Caribbean lapping at the shore, a gentle breeze rustling the palms. Besides, I needed another painting for one of the walls of our new house. And that painting needed to be bright and sunny but relaxing at the same time. Hope I succeeded.

Just a little something I have been working on. I have been discovering some great places to walk around our new home in Salmon Arm. It amazes me just how many trails there are. While out and about on these nature trails I am getting inspired. This painting is based on yet another photo that I took this past summer. Pretty sure there will be more to inspire me as I investigate our new surroundings.
