World Watercolor Month 2020 Day 26

Rhythm of My Heart

World Watercolor Month Day 26 prompt “Favorite Song”. We are a music loving household. That made it difficult to choose one song. There have been so many artists that we have listened to over many years. Our play list is long and varied. There is one song that I sing to myself often enough to single out and that is Rhythm of My Heart by Rod Stewart. The verse and the bagpipes pull at my heart. I created this painting with QoR watercolors and Pixma Micron ink on Strathmore card stock. To learn more about World Watercolor Month please visit worldwatercolormonth.com While there check out the shop. All proceeds benefit The Dreaming Zebra Foundation. Thank you.

“Hairy Beasty” #WorldWatercolorGroup

20161024_150345“Hairy Beasty” #WorldWatercolorGroup  original art by Susan Feniak.  Holbein Artists Water Colour on Strathmore 140lb Cold Press 11″ x 15″ paper.  I also used my Faber-Castell PITT artist pens and white GellyRoll pen.  Pretty sure I want to get myself some more colors of GellyRoll.  A beige would look better then white in this particular painting.   I am inspired by this highlander.  Most likely because I love all things Scottish.  Hope you have a grand week.  Cheers!  PEACE

“Lighthouse” #WorldWatercolorGroup

img_20160907_113213“Lighthouse” #WorldWatercolorGroup   The prompt for September 7.  This is Stoer Lighthouse.  Situated on Stoer Head north of Lochinver in North West Scotland.  Dating from the 1870’s.  I painted this from a photo I took while at the lighthouse about ten years ago.  It was a blustery day and the clouds lay wet and low over the sea.  The views and surrounding coastline are spectacular.

National Tartan Day #doodlewashaday

April 6th brings National Tartan Day, or, and I quote, “National Sorry Charlie Day”.  Sorry Charlie but I opted for Tartan.  Since my ancestors are mainly from Scotland and Ireland and I have been to Scotland three times I have a bit of an affinity with tartans.  Here I have doodlewashed two of my ancestral Clan MacLeod tartans, MacLeod of Harris and MacLeod of Lewis and Raasay.  My favourite would be MacLeod of Skye.  I could go on about Scotland but I will spare you.

Original art by Susan Feniak  Neocolor Caran D’Ache on Opus Essentials Sketchbook paper.

Hope you are having as much fun following along as I am doing a  #doodlewashaday     Visit Charlie O’Shields at doodlewash.wordpress.com  he is the instigator of this.  He might just convince you to doodlewash!!

A Busy Highland Tarmac

Original Quick Sketch By Susan Feniak  Hobein Water Colors, Pigma Pens on Cranson Mix Media Paper.

Its been awhile since I last visited the Highlands of Scotland but I do remember the sheep lining the roads.  They would sedately munch beside the tarmac and watch the few vehicles roll on by.  We as tourists had to snap a few photos before moving along.  Perhaps all the rain here today reminded me of my ancestral home.  I have nothing but fond memories of Scotland and my times spent there.  I will gladly visit again one day.  Hope you enjoy my quick sketch of some fun memories.

Cheers, Susan Feniak
