Much needed break…

We are on a much needed hiatus. Our first get away from it all in over two years. They haven’t been the easiest two years and getting here proved difficult as well. Since getting here my husband has been ill. Which leaves you the reader with several questions, maybe.

As we all know the pandemic has not allowed anyone to travel. Plans were made, plans were canceled. This year we can travel. Months ago we arranged everything for a two month stay in Mazatlan. Those plans, dreams, saw us through one of the most difficult times in our lives. The death of our youngest son. Two days before our departure date to Mazatlan. Violence erupted, I am sure most of you heard about that. Our dreams shattered. But, we managed to change everything at the last minute. Flights, accommodation and all. It was a stressful few days but thanks to great friends who stepped up to help and modern technology we are now happily ensconced in Ixtapa.

My husband has been ill but thanks to modern medicine and good medical services in Mexico he is recovering from a severe sinus infection and possible pneumonia. We have been determined to remain optimistic and look on the bright side of every deterrent.

Our glass is more than half full, all the time. I won’t say full of what exactly, you can figure that out. We are on vacation.

Ergo, you won’t be hearing much from me for awhile. Cheers Susan

Many thanks….

As this year comes to a close I would like to take a moment to thank everyone that supported me in my artistic endeavors. Your continued support is very much appreciated. For me this year has been one of ups and downs. And although I am not one to wish time away I am not sad to see the end of 2022. All that being said I believe that I have managed to create some decent art.

My sincerest wishes to each and everyone of you for a happy, healthy and creative 2023.

Artist Susan Feniak. All these pieces of original art were SOLD 🔴 in 2022 along with countless “one of a kind” greeting cards. I am beyond grateful. Thank you all, again.

Me, saying thank you.

Merry Christmas

Happiest of Christmas wishes to you and yours, cheers Susan Feniak

Blatant self promotion.

Warning! This post is blatant self promotion of the art by me, Susan Feniak. All the paintings in the above two photos are hanging in our house. They could be hanging in yours! I ask, why not give the gift of original art for Christmas?

In this disposable society one should remember art is a forever gift. All of these pieces are original, acrylic on gallery canvas. The painting continues around all the sides of the canvas so no frames are needed.

Busy creating Christmas cards….

I have been creating Christmas cards as fast as I can. These are just a sampling of the ones I have made so far this year. No two are the same, ergo, “one of a kind”. This year my “one of a kind” cards are available for sale at Rikki Lou Who’s Gift Emporium downtown Salmon Arm BC. I am pleased to have this opportunity. Thank you for shopping local and supporting your local small business owners and artisans.

As always I hope my happy quirky critters make you smile.

New art!! “Sunny Disposition”

New art!! So new it’s still drying on my easel and I have just given it a title, “Sunny Disposition”.

It’s something bright and cheerful just for you on what is a rather dull day here in the Shuswap Lake area of British Columbia.

I have included photos of my process and progress. One photo also shows how I finish the sides of every painting I do on a gallery canvas.

Fingers crossed it cheers everyone. I do like it when my art causes smiles.

Remember

Radiant Vista

On November 11th 2022 take a moment to remember all those who have given their lives, given of themselves and given their families so we can live the life we’ve grown accustomed to.

I live in one of the best countries in the world. I enjoy freedom, peace and prosperity. For that I am grateful and try to remember more often than one day a year.

How fortunate we are! Give thanks and remember.

Christmas is coming…

These are the 10 Christmas cards that I have for sale at Rikki Lou Who’s Gift Emporium on Alexander Street downtown Salmon Arm BC. I hope to find time to make more. Every card is a “one of a kind” hand painted original piece of art. Watercolor and ink on a 5″ x 7″ card, blank inside with an envelope.

Something completely different from me.

A commission

This painting was indeed completely different for me to do. I have never done any lettering, and I have decided that I don’t care to ever do it again. The grapes, wine glass, bottle and wine were something I have never tackled on canvas with acrylic paints before either. The reflections on the glass and motion of the pouring wine were fun to recreate. The purchaser gave me the words and a vague idea of what she had in mind and then pretty much gave me free reign to do what I thought best. To quote, “do that thing you do”. Admittedly I did enjoy taking her idea and recreating something out of that. Because I had never done anything like this before I gave her a screeching good deal. Lesson learned, every painting takes just as long for me to do with just as much thought going into it. Each and every painting is special to me. And most importantly I have a reputation to uphold. I try to do my very best every time. Although grateful for this opportunity and pleased to do this for a friend, screeching good deals shouldn’t happen.

Latest project…Morning Breaks

“Morning Breaks”

I completed my latest project today. Photo credit and inspiration goes to my very talented Aunt Helen Worley ❤️ Thank you so much for letting me use your amazing photo. This is a sunrise and cloud fan over Semiahmoo spit with Mount Baker in the background. Semiahmoo is in northwest Washington state. My Aunt Helen named the painting “Morning Breaks”. Happily this painting also immediately sold 🔴 to my aunt the photographer. Thank you again ❤️
