Hot Mess Or?

And now for something completely different. My first attempt at painting exclusively with a palette knife. Normally I don’t tackle abstract painting either. Asking a lot of myself with this one. I can’t decide if I like it or if it’s a hot mess. Probably because I don’t know much about absract. There is a lot of texture you probably can’t see. All this being said I rather enjoyed the experience. Golden artist colors on 18″ x 18″ box canvas.

An Experiment in Texture and Abstract

“Stormy Sea, Meet Violet Sky”  Last night I couldn’t sleep.  My mind started wandering to where my next painting might take me.  At 2 a.m. I found myself standing at my easel slathering great gobs of Golden Gel Mediums, Soft Gel (gloss), Acrilex Gloss Gel mixed with Golden acrylics Cerulean Blue, Bone Black and Titanium White.  I spread it all with a defunct points card on a 18” x 24” canvas.  What fun!! What a mess!  How does one clean up that in the middle of the night without waking up the snoring hubby?  I wanted to do more but there was a long drying time.  Its a wonder it dried at all!!  Today I played some more with it mixing and swirling more color and texture.  This is the end result.  Of course you probably can’t see all the texture but its there.  This was something completely different for me.  Maybe tonight I can sleep.  Original art by Susan Feniak
