Annual arts show and sale

It’s nearly time for the annual arts and crafts sale at the Red Barn Arts Center in Sicamous. I will have these four paintings in the show along with some of my hand painted “one of a kind” greeting cards. I know it’s a long way for some people to come to the show. But if you are in the vicinity of Riverside Ave Sicamous BC please do pop by to see the show. It runs from June 30 through July 3rd from 10 am to 4 pm daily. There is a meet the artist night June 29 7 to 9 pm.

Cheers Susan Feniak

Tropical Daze

These are the ten paintings that I submitted to the Federation of Canadian Artists to achieve my “Active Member” status. All of them are acrylic on canvas. Various sizes. They are all original either from my imagination or from a memory. Sometimes I use a photo that I have taken for inspiration. Regardless a jury of my peers thought at least six or more of the ten (six being the minimum) were good enough to be juried into any art show hosted by the FCA in Canada. I am thrilled to have accomplished this feat as it has been a personal goal of mine for some time.

Hope you enjoy. Cheers Susan Feniak

“Tropical Daze” Framed and ready…

“Tropical Daze”

“Tropical Daze” is framed and ready to hang in someone’s home. I have included a couple of photos of my process for you. Palette knife painting is different from my usual brush work. I do enjoy playing with a palette knife. It’s very different and makes for a lot of texture. I also used cheesecloth and when I used a brush it was loosely, almost carefree. The scene reminds me of a tropical getaway. Something I didn’t get to enjoy this winter. Maybe next year? In the meantime dreaming and remaining hopeful will suffice. Cheers Susan

Frames for two…

“Spring’s Bounty”
“Tulip Glow”

“Spring’s Bounty” and “Tulip Glow” both got frames this weekend. I am fortunate to have a great friend who is happy to build frames for my art. I think she did a fantastic job. I think both paintings needed the rustic barn board look. Being a watercolor Spring’s Bounty is under anti glare glass. Don’t ask my husband how much that cost. Oops. Always get a price before ordering. Just saying. Both pieces are original and available for sale. You can see them and pricing in previous posts.

I am saddened by people who have nothing better to with their time than try to scam or cheat people out of their money and work.

Revised

SOLD I revised this painting awhile back. Then forgot to show it off. Sometime this summer it will be in an art show and sale in Sicamous. I will be sure to let everyone know when that happens. Artist Susan Feniak. Acrylic on 12″ x 12″ box canvas.

Lupines

“Lupines” Artist Susan Feniak. Acrylic on 12″ x 12″ box canvas. Lupins grow wild in this neck of the woods bringing lots of colour to roadsides and meadows. I am still having fun using my palette knife. Doesn’t need a frame $100.

“Waiting Game Two”

original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 9” x 12” paper framed

I was going to save this one for April’s Draw A Bird Day but decided to post it now.  I can always paint another one right?  These two brown pelicans sat in that palm tree keeping my husband company while I was off snorkeling at Silk Caye, Belize.  There is a grand total of five palm trees on the wee atoll of Silk Caye, two picnic tables, an outhouse, a couple of barbecues and a lot of pelicans waiting and watching.  There really isn’t much for a patient husband to do but wait and watch along with the pelicans.   I truly enjoyed my snorkel adventure!  My husband?  Perhaps not so much.
