Something completely different from me.

A commission

This painting was indeed completely different for me to do. I have never done any lettering, and I have decided that I don’t care to ever do it again. The grapes, wine glass, bottle and wine were something I have never tackled on canvas with acrylic paints before either. The reflections on the glass and motion of the pouring wine were fun to recreate. The purchaser gave me the words and a vague idea of what she had in mind and then pretty much gave me free reign to do what I thought best. To quote, “do that thing you do”. Admittedly I did enjoy taking her idea and recreating something out of that. Because I had never done anything like this before I gave her a screeching good deal. Lesson learned, every painting takes just as long for me to do with just as much thought going into it. Each and every painting is special to me. And most importantly I have a reputation to uphold. I try to do my very best every time. Although grateful for this opportunity and pleased to do this for a friend, screeching good deals shouldn’t happen.

Latest project…Morning Breaks

“Morning Breaks”

I completed my latest project today. Photo credit and inspiration goes to my very talented Aunt Helen Worley ❤️ Thank you so much for letting me use your amazing photo. This is a sunrise and cloud fan over Semiahmoo spit with Mount Baker in the background. Semiahmoo is in northwest Washington state. My Aunt Helen named the painting “Morning Breaks”. Happily this painting also immediately sold 🔴 to my aunt the photographer. Thank you again ❤️

Small art and a new venue…

Recently I have been trying to rebuild my small painting inventory. The first two paintings are 10″ x 10″ acrylic on canvas. Can you tell that I was having fun with my palette knives?

I am pleased to announce that my “one of a kind”, hand painted greeting cards are now available for sale at Rikki Lou Who’s Gift Emporium on Alexander Street downtown Salmon Arm BC. I would like to thank the owner, Rachele for the opportunity and for supporting local artists. There are several photos of my cards above. I dropped off 15 to see how they sell. Fingers crossed. I am excited and looking forward to coming up with some more fun ideas for my cards.

My cards are all 4″ x 6″, hand painted original pieces of art. Artist Susan Feniak

A Daisy A Day

I present to you for your pleasure my latest painting, “A Daisy A Day”. There are many enjoyable hours of work represented here. Painting isn’t work for me but I will admit to letting some of the many daisies drive me crazy. When all is said and done I enjoyed creating this piece as much as any other. I hope you like this happy summery painting.

This painting has since, SOLD 🔴. Many thanks to the new owner. Years ago she told me that one day she hoped to purchase one of my paintings. I am pleased she picked this one.

“Radiant Vista”

Radiant Vista

New art completed! Title, “Radiant Vista”. Who can resist a meadow of wild flowers? I couldn’t. Poppies are always a popular subject. At least they are for me. Over the years I have painted several pieces that focus on the venerable and colorful poppy. I hope you enjoy my latest version.

At it again….

At it again…..My latest work in progress. From what seemingly looks like a hot mess you can see poppies emerge on the canvas. Oh how the creative mind works! Coming up there will be more to see.

“Dad’s Favourite”

Dad’s Favourite

“Dad’s Favourite”, my latest painting is drying on my easel. A little known fact is that I grew hollyhocks in my garden for years just for my Dad. He told me once that they were his favourite flower and that they reminded him of his grandmother and her garden. So here is my tribute to Dad’s favourite flower, the hollyhock. I no longer have a garden to plant the seeds that grow into these lovely old fashioned garden standards, but, I can certainly paint them.

There are several photos of my start to my finished painting. Enjoy.

Cards and a work in progress….

It’s been a while since I have been able to post something here. We live most of the warmer months on our houseboat and there is a total lack of internet service. My data suffers! I hope everyone understands.

Here are photos of two cards I recently completed. Both are watercolors and ink on Strathmore card stock. 4″ x 6″.

The final three photos are the process and progress of my latest work in progress. I wonder if you can guess what flowers I am tackling this time? I will be sure to share the final edition. It’s acrylic on a 12″ x 24″ gallery canvas.

Cheers from the houseboat, artist Susan Feniak.
