First WIP of 2021

WIP

My first painting of 2021 is in progress on my easel. It’s coming together ever so slowly. The photo reference is my own taken late last summer of our houseboat at beautiful Robert’s Bay on Shuswap Lake. It was an idyllic morning with the lake perfectly calm and flat. Reflections galore! Golden Artist Acrylics on an 18″ x 24″ gallery canvas. When this painting is finally done it’s not going anywhere. It will hang on our living room wall.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! Wishing you all a happy, healthy and creative 2021. Let’s be positive.

This is a “selfie” of me. I don’t like getting my photo taken nor do I do selphies well. They are something I will rarely share.

The other photo is my “Top Nine” posts on Instagram in 2020. Not my choices but Instagram’s. Interesting and somewhat surprising. I was happy to see my personal favorite “Shine On” a.k.a. Trudy Tortuga made the list. Amazed my watercolors and ink were as popular as they are. Go figure.

Moving on to new projects and I am hopeful the year ahead will be better. Surely being positive will see us through. Cheers Susan

Thank you

I would like to thank everyone that bought, commissioned, liked, followed, commented and or supported me in anyway in my artistic endeavors this year. I am truly grateful. Sincerely Susan Feniak.

May 2021 be a brighter happier year world wide.

The attached photos are just some of my paintings and card’s that found new homes.

Finally..

Finally, my last few Christmas cards for 2020. I think. Artist Susan Feniak. Watercolor and ink on card stock.

Two more designs…

That’s right. I am THAT person that will remind you that Christmas is coming by posting my card designs for 2020. BTW Christmas is coming. There is no avoiding it so we should embrace it. It may just be that something that perks us all up. Goodness knows we can all use some happy these days. My cards are all individually hand painted one of a kind originals. I do not make prints so you won’t see boxes full of them any where. Hope to make you smile today. Cheers Susan

“Cairo”

Cairo

Say hello to Cairo. She is the second of two recently completed commissioned pet portraits. Cairo and her mom loved to go hiking especially in the snow and mountains. Re-creating a snowy mountainous scene was a first for me. Although painting Cairo proved challenging at times I enjoyed the challenge. By the time I was done I didn’t want to let her go. Always and forever a sucker for those puppy dog eyes. Thank you to Mark and Kim for giving me the opportunity and the honor of painting your beloved dogs portraits. (See “Grizz” in my previous blog) Artist Susan Feniak. Acrylic on 16″ x 16″ x 1.5″ canvas. Painted on all sides.

Grizz

Grizz

I am pleased to say that “Grizz” is done and drying on my easel. He is rather a handsome fellow if I do say so myself. I hope when his owner sees the painting he will think so too. My only concern is that I have done Grizz justice and that he actually looks like he should or did when he was alive. I only had a photo to go by. The hazards of pet portraits. If nothing else my husband will gladly keep the painting and says he will proudly hang it in our house. See me smile? Painted with heart. Acrylic on 16″ x 16″ x 1.5″ canvas.

Work In Progress

Meet Grizz

I am working on a couple of dog portraits. This is a much loved and missed black lab named Grizzly. A.K.A. Grizz. I find that I put my heart and soul into pet portraits. I wonder, do other artists find that they do that too? When next you see Grizz I hope his posthumous portrait is completed and his owner is pleased. This is the biggest pet portrait that I have done thus far at 16″ x 16″ x 1.5″ acrylic on canvas. Wish me luck. Cheers Susan
