New art! “Spring’s Bounty” A watercolor this time. This is big for me, especially when it comes to working with watercolors. I had a vague idea of what I wanted to create. I didn’t draw anything, I just started to paint. My first of a few mistakes was that I chose the wrong background color. With perseverance and an arsenal of supplies I ended up with this painting as the result. There is everything on there from gouache to Daniel Smith, QoR, Derwent watercolor pencils, watercolor crayons, salt, you name it. At one point I even had my oil pastels out. There came the classic moment, am I done or not? Maybe? I had a blast, especially splattering and playing with a hake brush. Hope it pleases your eye.

These are the commissions I worked on last week. Although small every piece counts. Every piece is important. Someone thought highly enough of my art to ask me to make them something special for someone else. Thank you. I hope the recipients enjoy them as much as I did in the creating. Cheers Susan Feniak

World Watercolor Month Day 23 prompt “Alone”. I imagine a lighthouse keeper must have a lonely job. Alone out in some out post. I suppose now days lighthouses are all automated. But in years gone by someone used to have to keep the light lit to warn off unwary ships. Besides it was time for me to wow you with a new lighthouse! See me smile? World Watercolor Month Day 16 prompt “Machine”. This prompt got me thinking of simpler times before mechanization. Of being a child and being care free. Ripping up and down a street on a scooter came to mind. A pretty red scooter with tassels and everything. Oh the joy! SOLD! A new watercolor completed. My watery theme continues with another lighthouse. “When It’s Calm”. At the moment this looks like a tranquil spot. But my imagination tells me it can get wild, battered by storms. Why else have a lighthouse to warn unwary ships? Please do tell me what you think.

Hermit Bay. My latest painting. I need to come up with a name for this one yet. This was the view from our kitchen window on our houseboat last week while beached at Hermit Bay on Shuswap Lake. How fortunate am I to have this view rain or shine while cooking our meals? This painting is acrylic on 12″ x 16″ box canvas. Cheers Susan
