If you remember my blog “coming soon” here it is. Magnolia blooms are a symbol of springs arrival in these parts. There is a fellow down the street from us that has a huge yard with at least half a dozen large Magnolia trees in full bloom right now. Every spring I pay homage to him as I walk past this display of utter beauty. It puts my lone Magnolia tree to shame but then again my yard isn’t that big. Here I have painted my Magnolia in bloom later in the season as the leaves are showing too.
This painting is for sale.

I love all the color. But that is me. Susan
Celebrate April 27th
Posted: April 25, 2013 Filed under: Gardening/Flowers, Watercolors | Tags: Flowers, Local artist, original art, Paintings from the garden, Paintings of Flowers, Shuswap Art 2 CommentsThis is a little water color I did a couple of years ago to help me and others celebrate Daffodil Day April 27th. Daffodils are such a bright and cheery subject. Appropriate. Since I personally know far too many people with cancer I feel the need to promote such a celebration. I am sad to say some have lost their battle and still others continue the fight. The happiest moments are hearing of battles won!
Cheers to the power of positive thinking!
Being a cancer survivor myself this one day is very important to me.

Garden Hearts
Posted: March 3, 2013 Filed under: Gardening/Flowers | Tags: Acrylic on canvas, Flowers, Local artist, original art, Paintings from the garden, Paintings of Flowers, Shuswap Art 2 CommentsOriginal art by Susan Feniak acrylic on canvas 16” x 20” This painting has been waiting to be done for a year or two now. At first the idea was for a much larger version but things change as do my plans. Not to mention the fact I was out of larger canvas before taking on this project. Other ideas came and went and some took precedence. A longer wait for this one! As for why I choose to call bleeding hearts, “Garden Hearts” I can’t really explain except my choice seems less violent. To me anyway. I get more a feeling of lightness and joy from it so I hope you do too. Maybe I should have named it “Light Hearted”?
Please enjoy! Unframed asking price $100.00

I take pictures of my garden and pond all the time. Other then my painting “Bath Time” I hadn’t really ever tried to paint a picture of either. Of course the pond and pots looked like this last summer. Right now everything is buried under a mountain of snow. I can only dream and plan what it will look like this coming summer. Or in this case, paint a picture.
The splash of water, colourful blooms, fresh herbs to pick, all things to look forward to!
Leaving The Nest

It made me smile when I painted this. The birds remind me of the wee ones that visited our pond and waterfall this summer. They splashed about everyday, several times a day, much to our joy and amusement. Mama bird seems to be very patient with this gang. My two year old Grandson is certain Mama bird is an owl. Although I know she isn’t, to me, that means I succeeded in making her look mature and wise.

Shortly after moving into the house a birch tree in the front yard died. The stump seemed to provide the perfect spot to place a bird bath. Luckily chickadees, juncos, finches, pine siskins and robins have become regular visitors. Perhaps encroachment by the rhododendrons provide the needed privacy and shelter. This painting is for sale and will brighten some ones winter home!
