This painting was indeed completely different for me to do. I have never done any lettering, and I have decided that I don’t care to ever do it again. The grapes, wine glass, bottle and wine were something I have never tackled on canvas with acrylic paints before either. The reflections on the glass and motion of the pouring wine were fun to recreate. The purchaser gave me the words and a vague idea of what she had in mind and then pretty much gave me free reign to do what I thought best. To quote, “do that thing you do”. Admittedly I did enjoy taking her idea and recreating something out of that. Because I had never done anything like this before I gave her a screeching good deal. Lesson learned, every painting takes just as long for me to do with just as much thought going into it. Each and every painting is special to me. And most importantly I have a reputation to uphold. I try to do my very best every time. Although grateful for this opportunity and pleased to do this for a friend, screeching good deals shouldn’t happen.

I completed my latest project today. Photo credit and inspiration goes to my very talented Aunt Helen Worley ❤️ Thank you so much for letting me use your amazing photo. This is a sunrise and cloud fan over Semiahmoo spit with Mount Baker in the background. Semiahmoo is in northwest Washington state. I hope to have a title for the painting soon, I am giving my aunt first dibs. Happily this painting has sold 🔴 to my aunt the photographer. Thank you again ❤️

Sunset on Mara. This painting has a lot of meaning for me. It is emotionally charged. Firstly it is the first painting since the death of our youngest son. Secondly it is based on a photo that I took the evening after his death. I could see a bird taking flight in the cloud formation. It was a perfect evening and a spectacular sunset. A beautiful memory to have and hold. Ergo it had to be memorialized on canvas by my hands, brushes and imagination.

Recently I have been trying to rebuild my small painting inventory. The first two paintings are 10″ x 10″ acrylic on canvas. Can you tell that I was having fun with my palette knives?
I am pleased to announce that my “one of a kind”, hand painted greeting cards are now available for sale at Rikki Lou Who’s Gift Emporium on Alexander Street downtown Salmon Arm BC. I would like to thank the owner, Rachele for the opportunity and for supporting local artists. There are several photos of my cards above. I dropped off 15 to see how they sell. Fingers crossed. We are in the midst of a heatwave here in BC but that hasn’t deterred the flowers from thriving. While out for my walks I have been spotting all manner of beauties, including black eyed susan’s. Thankfully not my namesake but I recently did have two black eyes from a bad fall. Good thing I heal quickly.

World Watercolor Month Days 24 and 25. Another two cards created. While out for my walk yesterday I came across some honeysuckle. I couldn’t resist trying to duplicate it’s blooms and gorgeous color. The lighthouse is my imagination. Since we are in the middle of a heat wave perhaps I was dreaming of cooling ocean breezes and waves. I will NOT complain about sun and warmth. It was just a week or so ago that we were huddled under blankets trying to stay warm and dry.
