On the road again…

Zihuatanejo

Hola from Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo Mexico. Yup, we are on the road again. This will be our home away from home for the next while.

It’s amazing what some of us Canadians will do to avoid a northern winter.

“Rosa” is my southern ebike. You will most likely be seeing photos of her and I on our adventures. Ciclopistas are the bike trails here.

Or I may share photos of sunsets because they are spectacular here.

Or there could be photos of our scooter travels. The scooter is my husband’s preferred mode of transport.

There will most likely be very little art. I was only able to cram some watercolors, cards and some paper into my suitcase.

That being said I should promote the fact that my painting, “Mother Love”, is on display at the offices of Miller Wealth on Hudson Ave Salmon Arm BC.

Mother Love

And there you have it. The latest news from me. Cheers Susan

Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo Mexico

We are still enjoying beautiful Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo. The above are a few photos taken while here. The sunsets are stunning. The bougainvillea is dripping with multi coloured blooms. I bought myself an ebike which provides me some independence. I still tour around on the trusty scooter with my husband. Kind of hard to get a photo of the two of us on that.

World events are rather disturbing these days. It’s difficult to find positivity but we continue to find it with each day.

Make every day count.

Enjoy the photos.

Cheers Susan

I am still here….

I am still here in beautiful Ixtapa Mexico. I did say that I would post any art that I manage to do. So….the above are the six “one of a kind” cards that I made to donate to a silent auction in support of the elderly peoples of Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo. There are no pensions, no old age security here so if you don’t have family to help you or the wherewithal to maintain a home or have food and a roof over your head there is no support for you. Think about that for a moment!

We are fortunate.

For the last several years while staying here we have donated to this event and cause.

Away, saying hello to 68!

As you may have guessed, I am away. We are in Mexico for the next while.

I few days ago I said hello to 68 and celebrated with my toes in the sand and a margarita in my hand. Maybe more then one margarita. But who is counting?

If I have time for art I will post it. I brought cards to work on while here.

Hope you are all having a good winter.

Cheers Susan Feniak

“The Sun and Moon” Sold 🔴

Sold 🔴 “The Sun and Moon.” Or El sol y la luna. The latest painting drying on my easel. One of my favorite places is Zihuatanejo Mexico. A fishing village on the Pacific coast. This painting is my depiction of two Zihua fishing boats, known as pangas, resting at anchor. Normally at the end of the day these boats are hauled up onto the beach. But I wanted to show how beautiful the water is so my boats are at anchor. I have painted many boats without issue but these two started out a bit wonky. I am pretty sure I fixed that. And before anyone mentions it, yes I broke a rule and placed the boats dead centre!! No rule of thirds in this one. It’s about the colors, ocean, and boats. My loves.

Artist Susan Feniak. Acrylic on a 16″ x 20″ gallery wrapped canvas. Asking $225.00 cdn. Plus shipping.  If you are interested please email sfeniakart@gmail.com

We are still enjoying our extended vacation in beautiful Ixtapa Mexico. The sunsets are truly fabulous. I believe that I mentioned that several times last year too. I  really haven’t been taking as many photos this year, nor have I been posting or blogging as much. I am just relaxing and inhaling the beauty that surrounds us.

Remember to be kind and stay healthy everyone.  Cheers Susan

On hiatus…a.k.a.MIA

Me
Not me

Hola from Ixtapa Mexico. I am on hiatus for the next wee while. Sadly I haven’t felt like painting lately. That means no blog posts for me to share. Maybe when I return I will feel refreshed and ready to be creative again. In the meantime I will post some photos of our surroundings and adventures. That iguana was one handsome dude, a real poser.

And yes that is a rare photo of me. I am notoriously camera shy. My husband has permission to take photos of me and I am not deleting all of them. At 67 I have finally learned that I look okay. Seriously, that body image thing is an issue.

Take care. Cheers Susan Feniak

More? Yes more sights from Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo….

We are still enjoying our much needed extended vacation in Ixtapa. It’s been a tuff couple of years and an even ruffer 8 months or so. Family issues have taken up a lot of our time and energy. It’s been wonderful to escape and take care of us instead of everyone else. The photos are some what self explanatory. The sunsets are glorious. The palapa is being rebuilt after a fire destroyed it. There are many pangas, boats used by the locals for everything. The iguanas are numerous and interesting. We spend hours watching the ocean and waves. There have been dolphin sightings and even a humpback whale or two. Normally we don’t take selfies. Mostly because we suck at it. But sometimes people want to see us in a photo so I attached the two selfies that we dared to take. Worth a laugh if nothing else.

I hope you are enjoying a glimpse into our vacation. We are relaxed. And that is important. Cheers Susan and Carey

Sights and colours of Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo….

Some more sights and colours of Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo. You will have to imagine the sounds. Eventually this wonderful escape will have to come to an end. But we will enjoy it while we are here. Reality will rear it’s ugly head soon enough. Cheers Susan

If you like sunsets….have a look at these.

If you like a spectacular sunset Ixtapa Mexico is the place to partake. I grew up on the west coast of British Columbia so I know a good sunset when I see it. Just saying! ENJOY Cheers Susan
