Another two….

Two more “one of a kind” greeting cards. Both are QoR watercolors and ink on Strathmore card stock. 5″ x 7″.

My stock pile of cards is growing. It’s nice to have the opportunity to do a wee bit of art while in Ixtapa Mexico.

That being said I am looking forward to getting home and working on some serious pieces. You know, the bigger kind. The acrylic on canvas kind. I have so much inspiration from our cruise in October and our stay here in Mexico. My fingers are twitching with anticipation. Patience Susan, patience. Haha

Sunshine, lollipops and….

Exceptional Ixtapa Sunset

Catch of the day for Mr Pelican
I avoid painting any kind of cat. First try at a tiger.

Just incase I haven’t shared enough Ixtapa sunsets with you, here’s two more. We’ve been coming here for quite a few years now, and the sunsets continue to amaze us. Maybe not you my erstwhile readers and followers but I am sharing nonetheless. As to any current followers and friends please do enjoy. I appreciate your time.

I am trying to do a bit of art, sometimes daily. It can be hit or miss. So here’s Mr Pelican, I am surprised he hasn’t swallowed his catch whole already. The tiger? Well let me just say, I avoid painting cats, of any size. There is something about them. I usually end up making some evil looking creature. This was my first attempt at a tiger. It’s based rather loosely on a painting I saw by another artist, Nora MacPhail. I do admire her work. I may try to attempt my own version of a tiger, my way, sometime. Practice makes perfect. Or at least, better.

Regardless, enjoy.

Afternoon art time

Some afternoon’s I have time to sit down and play with the watercolours and paper/cards that I brought with me to Mexico.  There is very little room in my suitcase for art supplies but I manage to bring a few bits and bobs.

Admittedly I spend more time gazing at our amazing view. But on occasion I do manage to get in the zone and create. The dolphins were a lot of fun!

Christmas cards? I guess they will become part of a stock pile for next year. Maybe they will actually get sent to someone.

Christmas is just around the corner. Where did that year go?

Enjoy! May your Christmas be merry and full of love. Shared with those you love. Hold them near. Peace.

On the road again…

Zihuatanejo

Hola from Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo Mexico. Yup, we are on the road again. This will be our home away from home for the next while.

It’s amazing what some of us Canadians will do to avoid a northern winter.

“Rosa” is my southern ebike. You will most likely be seeing photos of her and I on our adventures. Ciclopistas are the bike trails here.

Or I may share photos of sunsets because they are spectacular here.

Or there could be photos of our scooter travels. The scooter is my husband’s preferred mode of transport.

There will most likely be very little art. I was only able to cram some watercolors, cards and some paper into my suitcase.

That being said I should promote the fact that my painting, “Mother Love”, is on display at the offices of Miller Wealth on Hudson Ave Salmon Arm BC.

Mother Love

And there you have it. The latest news from me. Cheers Susan

Celebrating 50 years together.

50th wedding anniversary

Recently my husband, Carey and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went on a 21 day Mediterranean cruise. The trip of a lifetime.

The following photos are a very few of my favorites from our trip. I took a lot of photos so it has been difficult to edit them down. If you want to know more about our trip one can check out my Facebook posts. I tried to share every day.

We had a fabulous time and are grateful for the opportunity to see and learn so much about the places we visited.

Cheers Susan Feniak

A favorite sunset. We always took the time to watch the sunset.
The MS Oosterdam our home away from home.
Dubrovnik Croatia. Croatia is fabulous place. A must see.
Ancient city walls, Dubrovnik.
I love this photo from Venice.
Ancient Olympia.
This scene caught my eye in Ghania Greece.
Me
Athens, the Parthenon.
Malta. This city is another must see. So much history.
A Malta street.
I couldn’t resist taking a photo of this doorway. Malta.
Greco-Roman ruins. Messina Italy.
Pompeii. Inside a wealthy merchants villa. Amazingly the frescoes and mosaics were preserved. Pompeii was buried under 20 feet of ash and debris when Mt Vesuvius erupted.
Temple of Apollo, Pompeii.
A must see for us was the Coloseum, Rome.
The back of the famous Monte Carlo casino. We fully expected to see someone famous here.
The Casino decked out for Halloween.
The marina Monaco City.
Our anniversary dinner, October 31 2025, Pinnacle Grill, Oosterdam.

Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo Mexico

We are still enjoying beautiful Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo. The above are a few photos taken while here. The sunsets are stunning. The bougainvillea is dripping with multi coloured blooms. I bought myself an ebike which provides me some independence. I still tour around on the trusty scooter with my husband. Kind of hard to get a photo of the two of us on that.

World events are rather disturbing these days. It’s difficult to find positivity but we continue to find it with each day.

Make every day count.

Enjoy the photos.

Cheers Susan

Away, saying hello to 68!

As you may have guessed, I am away. We are in Mexico for the next while.

I few days ago I said hello to 68 and celebrated with my toes in the sand and a margarita in my hand. Maybe more then one margarita. But who is counting?

If I have time for art I will post it. I brought cards to work on while here.

Hope you are all having a good winter.

Cheers Susan Feniak

We are still enjoying our extended vacation in beautiful Ixtapa Mexico. The sunsets are truly fabulous. I believe that I mentioned that several times last year too. I  really haven’t been taking as many photos this year, nor have I been posting or blogging as much. I am just relaxing and inhaling the beauty that surrounds us.

Remember to be kind and stay healthy everyone.  Cheers Susan

Still on hiatus

Getting better at selfies!

Hola from beautiful Ixtapa Mexico.  Yes I am still on hiatus.  Believe me this extended vacation was needed.  Anyone that knows me personally will understand what that means. If you follow me on my social media accounts you probably have a good idea of why I am needing this escape.

I did manage to borrow some paper and paint from a friend and whip up 4 cards for a fundraiser. But otherwise I have been taking a break from my creative endeavors as well as my other responsibilities.

When I return home I am looking forward to getting back to my easel. There is an abundance of inspiration here for me to delve into. Photos galore and ideas rumbling about in my head. My fingers are starting to get twitchy.  A good sign.

In the meantime I hope you are having a good winter.  Stay healthy.
