Winterized

Original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 12” x 12” box canvas.   Rarely do we have a winter day that inspires me to paint a snowy scene.  But the other day we had a stellar one.  Unlike most days in our neck of the woods it was sun filled, bright and crisp.  There was a snowfall the previous night and then the temperature plummeted.  Leaving behind a thick intact layer of snow on all the trees.  This could be our yard or just over there……  It was a beautiful scene.  Happy New Year!  This is the first painting of 2015.  Here is hoping for a productive year.

Cheers, Susan Feniak

Another Given Away

012 It is now safe for me to announce that this painting was given to my Mother as a Christmas present this year. Mother didn’t have a painting of mine so I guess that was past due!

“A Birds Eye View”

original art By Susan Feniak  acrylic on 24” x 36” canvas

A bit of whimsy for all of you and my imagination at work.  Picture if you will a grassy field smattered with wild flowers.  Countless birds happily singing and flitting about.  This painting is how that field would look threw the eye of a bird.  Or as I imagine it would.  Hopefully you can picture this bright sunny day too.  As you may be able to tell I am thinking of sun filled days and missing the colors, sounds, smells and warmth of them.  A happy place!

A painting gets a new home!

Today my painting “A Lazy Eagle River” got a new home.   A Happy 60th Birthday present to my sister, Kathy!  Since I think it is one of my best paintings to date and a particular favourite of mine it is a special enough gift for a 60th celebration.  I know it has a good home and will be enjoyed.

Shell Shopping!

original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 16” x 16” box canvas

My first selfie!  Well okay so it is my first attempt at a self portrait.  While in Ft. Lauderdale Florida a few weeks ago the first thing I did was dip my toes in the ocean.  It had been years since my last visit to a seaside.  Such lovely white sand.  So appealing and oh so warm and sunny.  Of course I had to do some seashell hunting and it wasn’t hard to find them either.  My kind of shopping!  And free for the taking too!

I hope you enjoy my take on a idyllic day.  Cheers, Susan

Sunset at Hermits Bay

Original art by Susan Feniak  water color on paper

It was a two painting day!!!  Along with “Lookin’ Up”  I played around with this painting.  Because I am never too sure about my ability with water colors I usually hesitate to post my efforts.  I am taking a chance here and hope you like it.  Stayin’ warm!  This was a good pass time.  Cheers!

The Cabin at Haven Point Revisited

THIS ONE HAS BEEN GIVEN TO A VERY DESERVING HOME

Original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 18” x 24” box canvas

My first painting of 2014!  I decided to go back to one of my favourite places and enjoy the reminder of summer.  The first version I did of this I was a relatively inexperienced painter so why not revisit?  The cabin itself is situated at Haven Point on Shuswap Lake.  When I walk by the cabin on a warm summers day it seems and feels like a cool restful place.  Unfortunately it is falling apart and has been deemed unsafe.  Some year soon, on our first boating weekend of the season I will no doubt be saddened by the cabins winter demise.  In the meantime it was nice to have a reminder of summer and warm snow free days!

Pond Ornaments

original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 20” x 20” boxed canvas

NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR SALE What was un-finished is now finished, I think.
I was remembering how lovely the water lilies were in my pond this past summer and this painting is the result.  Since at the longest point my pond is seventeen feet you can imagine what a show eight lilies put on!  I doubt I will ever have a yard or garden that doesn’t have a pond or water feature of some sort.  They are constant entertainment.  Not to mention inspiration.

Thank you for stopping by and please feel free to check out my other paintings on this blog.  Hope you enjoy the visit and the viewing.  Comments are always welcome.  /a>

Cheers, Susan
