A wee painting to share today. I am inspired by all the flowers and blossoms of the moment. Our hotter then normal spring has everything out in bloom. Its going to be done and over with before it is supposed to even start!
The Tangled Bouquet

While I was in my sunshine, sandy beach and palm tree mood this painting was on and off my easel several times. Started last fall I finally took the time to finish it. Why not? After all sun flowers are related to sunshine and happy thoughts aren’t they? And who can resist a bouquet of sunflowers, tangled or not?
Hope my painting brings a little sunshine to your lives.
Cheers, Susan

She gave me an awesome prize! A set of Staedtler Watercolour Pencils!! Although I was sorry to see her leave I couldn’t wait to start playing with the new pencils. So here you are Kathy, the first of many paintings rendered with my new watercolour pencils. Thank you very much.
The reference photo is one I took of my own magnolia tree this spring. Staedtler Watercolour Pencils on Canson Mix Media 7”x10” paper. Perhaps now I can venture onto bigger paper.
And, thank you Kathy for the much needed laughter!!
Thoughts of Spring

After my last painting “Winterized” and rather wintery weather in our part of the world I decided it was time to turn my attention to “Thoughts of Spring”. While out for a walk early last spring I took countless photos of Magnolias coming into bloom. This painting is from that walk. I have been waiting for just the right time to put brush to easel and paint the glorious blooms. Hope my “Thoughts of Spring” brightens your winter day!
Please remember comments are always welcome. Cheers, Susan Feniak
“A Birds Eye View”

A bit of whimsy for all of you and my imagination at work. Picture if you will a grassy field smattered with wild flowers. Countless birds happily singing and flitting about. This painting is how that field would look threw the eye of a bird. Or as I imagine it would. Hopefully you can picture this bright sunny day too. As you may be able to tell I am thinking of sun filled days and missing the colors, sounds, smells and warmth of them. A happy place!

Another in progress

See me smile? But due to another sleepless night. (Being sleepless is just me being me.) I came up with an idea for a new painting. Since I didn’t feel well enough equipped to attempt much of anything else today I decided to put said idea onto canvas. This is the biggest canvas I have tackle in a while and did I ever have fun with my brushes and paints. Almost enough to make me forget all about the sleepless night! There is a lot more left to do but the painting is of the world as a bird might see it. A Birds Eye View.

My Pink Pond Lilies

Finished! As soon as I saw these two beauties in my pond this summer I knew I was going to have to put them onto canvas. These days there hasn’t been enough time to enjoy being happy at my easel. Today I made that time to play. The overwhelming need for something beautiful and good in my life and the urge to escape into painting la la land overtook me. It felt good and I think the end result shows. $200.00 plus shipping and handling will get you this painting!
Let me know what you think. Cheers, Susan A favorite of mine, available for $250 plus shipping and handling

Sharing my work while it is still in progress. But I just wanted to let everyone know that I have finally found some time to spend at my easel. Can you see me smiling?

“The Dream Was”

Recently my Mother expressed an interest in having one of my paintings. She told me which wall she would like to hang it on and which paintings she preferred. We settled on “The Homestead”. But then I started to think about my Mother and the things she likes. She has often referred to a dream that was to be a part of my parents retirement years. That dream was to retire by the water somewhere and live in an “A” frame house or cabin. Sadly that dream has never come true. I have attempted to paint that dream. Not an easy task because this is my concept of what that dream may have been and not perhaps what my Mother has envisioned all these years. If nothing else it is bright and cheery and it includes some of my Mother’s favourite flowers, yellow daisies.
