On a cold snowy day…

Another Revision
Mara Twilight 2022
Primer the bits I don’t want…
The revision process…
Pretty much a total redo, lighten and brighten

It’s the first real cold snowy day we’ve had so far this fall. So what does an artist do? Paint a bright sunny day!

I painted Mara Twilight back in 2022. It’s moved from wall to wall at our house.  It’s featured on my 2024 calendar this month but it’s had no real interest or inquiries. I decided it needed brightening up. So I nixed the darkness of twilight and changed it to a bright sunny day. It’s much the same as my painting “Mara Muse”.  I miss that painting so this one may replace it.

Not only did I totally change the painting I will have to change the title too.  Any suggestions?

Finished revising Ebb and Flow

Revised Ebb and Flow

Ebb and Flow has seen a lot of changes over the last couple of days. I am happier with this new version. So far. I am fickle. There could possibly be a few more tweaks but for now I am saying “done”.  To see this painting pre revision please visit my previous post.

If you like the new version or even if you don’t feel free to let me know. Constructive criticism is welcome.

Another revision in progress….

Now you see it….
Now you don’t….
The start of something new….
Progress…?
More progress.
And more progress.

Another revision is in progress on my easel. I  painted the original in October of 2021. Shortly after my dear brother died.   I was never completely happy with the original painting. Considering the circumstances no one, including myself, should be surprised by that. At the time I thought that I would live with the painting for awhile, think on it.  I did manage to give it a title,  “Ebb andFlow”. Lately I have been giving this painting and another one a great deal of thought.  No better time than the present to have a go at revising and hopefully improving it.

My husband says the sand bar looks like it’s pushing the water. Oh oh. That doesn’t sound good. It’s supposed to be the other way around with the water pushing and surrounding the sand bar. What do you think? All that being said the painting/revision is still a work in progress. Time will tell…..

And here it is….

Floral Extravaganza at home
Floral Extravaganza

Wahoo!! Can you see me smile? I am very pleased with how “Floral Extravaganza” looks hanging on the wall above the bed. That makes the redecorated bedroom complete.

I am calling my latest painting, Floral Extravaganza, done! Since it’s still drying some more tweaking could happen.  In my previous blog I shared the beginning of this painting. Days and hours of creating later here it is. If only an artist got paid by the hour!

Normally I don’t try to match or do art specifically to match a room, or furniture, or bedding. My rule of thumb is if you love it will work.  But the new bedding was calling me to create Floral Extravaganza.

Today my husband and I quietly celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary. We both can’t believe it’s been 49 years. Time truly does fly. Love does conquer all of life’s foibles.

2025 Calendars and new art in progress..

2025 Calendars

New bedding

My 2025 calendars finally arrived. Long story short the first batch arrived and they were a hot mess covered with ink splotches and smudges. The printers replaced them for me, free of charge.  I am very happy with the final results. I do a limited amount as I usually give them as gifts to close friends or family. This year I sold a few but I do have one left. If you are interested please email me at sfeniakart@gmail.com

Recently I bought new bedding. The old bedding had been on our bed since 2015. I loved it, but it was time for new.  I bought what I loved again and no doubt it will be on our bed for many years to come. Normally the art I hang in our home is also what I love or it’s favorites of mine/ours. It doesn’t necessarily match furniture or bedding. That being said, the painting above our bed worked with our old bedding, not the new. Ergo there is a fresh painting in progress on my easel. Meant just for us. It is taking me hours to do!!

Remember if you are interested in one of my 2025 calendars please let me know. I only have one left but I can always do another printing.

Cheers Susan

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian family and friends.

For me Thanksgiving brings to an end our boating season. So it’s a busy weekend packing up At Last and moving to the condo where we will be much warmer come winter. I will admit to it being a bitter sweet time.

What am I thankful for this weekend? I am grateful for the fabulous friends we have on the dock. We are like a family. I am also thankful for being able to live a life that many can only dream about. That being said, remember we worked hard for it.

My 2025 calendars are almost ready. I will have a limited supply available. I will share more information soon.

Cheers Susan Feniak

September was a busy month…

Carey, my husband

September was a busy month. Carey, my husband retired! At 71 years young it was time. Anyway it was cause for celebration. We also celebrated his birthday. In between all the celebrating I was busily filling an order for 10 of my “one of a kind” Christmas cards. Sorry, but it is that time of year again.  When an artist has to plan and come up with fresh ideas for Christmas. In between that creativity I was making more cards to sell at a store here in Sicamous called, Willow. There was the limited edition 2025 calendars to design.  And more painting and creating with Mara Muse, my favorite piece so far this year. I didn’t include a photo of it but you can check it out on a previous blog.

So, as you can see September was a busy month. Now I have to settle down and start the long process of getting our houseboat ready for winter. We will be moving to town soon and closing At Last for the season.

Hope everyone had a fabulous summer. Cheers

“Mara Muse” SOLD

From the kitchen of our boat!
“Mara Muse” 🔴

This paintinghas since Sold. 🔴 “Mara Muse”. I have been trying to capture the view from the aft deck of our houseboat for 8 years. That’s how long we’ve owned our boat. I think that I succeeded today! Yay! I have made several attempts but this one makes my heart sing. See me smile. Funny something that is so near and dear can be so difficult to duplicate. But not today. I started and finished this painting in one day. Yes, you read that correctly, one day. I found the zone. Nothing feels better to an artist than that zone. Trust me.
