Afternoon art time

Some afternoon’s I have time to sit down and play with the watercolours and paper/cards that I brought with me to Mexico.  There is very little room in my suitcase for art supplies but I manage to bring a few bits and bobs.

Admittedly I spend more time gazing at our amazing view. But on occasion I do manage to get in the zone and create. The dolphins were a lot of fun!

Christmas cards? I guess they will become part of a stock pile for next year. Maybe they will actually get sent to someone.

Christmas is just around the corner. Where did that year go?

Enjoy! May your Christmas be merry and full of love. Shared with those you love. Hold them near. Peace.

A little art

I have been making a few Christmas cards. I couldn’t possibly let Christmas go by without making them.

We will be in Mexico for Christmas this year. It will be very different for us. But you know what they say, a change is as good as a rest. It was or is time to change things up. Make new traditions.

All that being said I made cards anyway. I just won’t be sending any. A select few got my 2026 calendar, which I ordered early.

Over the years I have spent hours creating individual cards for our friends and family. Since we receive very few cards in return, it seems sending Christmas cards is becoming a thing of the past. That is rather sad. Sending and receiving the annual greeting was something to look forward to. It was often the only time you would hear from some people.

Traditions change as do we. Time continues to fly.

Enjoy my wintery scenes. I for one will continue to not miss snow.

On the road again…

Zihuatanejo

Hola from Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo Mexico. Yup, we are on the road again. This will be our home away from home for the next while.

It’s amazing what some of us Canadians will do to avoid a northern winter.

“Rosa” is my southern ebike. You will most likely be seeing photos of her and I on our adventures. Ciclopistas are the bike trails here.

Or I may share photos of sunsets because they are spectacular here.

Or there could be photos of our scooter travels. The scooter is my husband’s preferred mode of transport.

There will most likely be very little art. I was only able to cram some watercolors, cards and some paper into my suitcase.

That being said I should promote the fact that my painting, “Mother Love”, is on display at the offices of Miller Wealth on Hudson Ave Salmon Arm BC.

Mother Love

And there you have it. The latest news from me. Cheers Susan

Mother Love

Mother Love

“Mother Love”. Introducing Fiona and wee Archie. I cannot explain my adoration of heilan coo’s. Especially this year. First there was “Skye”, then “Donal” now this, Mother Love with Fiona and Archie. I was inspired by a photo that I saw on a FB page @lovescotland. I had to paint the love shared between the two, a mother and her calf, portrayed in that photo.

Mother Love is by Susan Feniak. Acrylic on a 24″ x 24″ gallery wrapped canvas. Asking $400 cdn plus shipping. Currently unframed.

Cheers Susan Feniak.

Summery Show 20″ x 24″ $350 cdn

Summer Heights, Heartsease and Summery Show are hanging on the office walls at Adrenaline Industries Storage. Adrenaline Industries Storage is on Riverside Ave in Sicamous BC. All three paintings are keeping Becky company this winter. Becky is the general manager at the storage facility and will be happy to show you the paintings.  She has permission to negotiate the prices of the paintings and will be able to contact me.

All three paintings are originals.  Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas. Which means they are painted on all sides and don’t need frames.

I would like to thank Becky and the owners of Adrenaline Industries Storage for letting me hang my art in their office.

Cheers Susan Feniak

“Summer Heights”

Summer Heights

The newest painting from Susan Feniak’s easel is “Summer Heights”. This painting is inspired by Susan’s walks and ebike rides along the River Front Nature Park in Sicamous BC. A very inspirational place to visit. Especially for Susan. There are huge old cottonwood trees that grow along the trail. They are very tall, ergo the title, “Summer Heights”.  This is not the first time that Susan has captured a scene from this trail.

Garden Visitors

Garden Visitors

Pleased to say this one has 🔴 SOLD! Thank you to the collector, who I know will give it an appreciative home.

New art!! It’s been awhile since enough time was available for me to spend time at my easel. That and I really didn’t feel like it. Then, all of a sudden I got the urge, that must do, can do, feeling that I can’t resist. It felt good.

For lack of a better name I am calling this one “Garden Visitors”. That may be a temporary title. I shall see.

I hope you like it. It’s certainly summery and colourful.

“Donal”

Donal
Skye

Meet “Donal”. Yes, I painted another “heilan coo”. a.k.a. highland cow.  Because of “Skye” and his popularity I was commissioned by the daughter of his purchaser to paint another Skye. Acknowledging that I can’t paint the same thing exactly the same way twice (especially on a smaller scale) I agreed. Donal is the result. I do like the fact that both beasties are completely different characters. That’s the joy of creating.  I also like the fact that both will be hanging in welcoming appreciative homes. Many thanks to the lovers of Donal and Skye.

Artist Susan Feniak. Donal is acrylic on a 16″ x 16″ gallery wrapped canvas. Skye is acrylic on a 24″ x 24″ gallery wrapped canvas.

Now I hope to have time to paint something new and different.

Thank you

Mr Heron 🔴 Sold
Skye 🔴 Sold

Thank you everyone that came to the art show and sale at the Red Barn in Sicamous this past weekend. Because of you it was a success.  Many thanks to all the volunteers that worked hard before, during and after the show.

Although I miss him “Skye” found a new home and so did “Mr Heron”.

Now to start working on new pieces for next year’s show.

Cheers Susan Feniak

Wow!

Wow! Thank you to everyone who came to the first day of the art show and voted for my painting “Skye”! 🔴 We won the first ever people’s choice award at the show. As far as I know this is the first time we’ve held a people’s choice contest. There will be a new winner every day during the show.

The show is still open tomorrow June 29th through July 1st. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. I will be there from 1 to 4 everyday.

Hope to see you there!
