A painting gets a new home!

Today my painting “A Lazy Eagle River” got a new home.   A Happy 60th Birthday present to my sister, Kathy!  Since I think it is one of my best paintings to date and a particular favourite of mine it is a special enough gift for a 60th celebration.  I know it has a good home and will be enjoyed.

“The Dream Was”

Original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 16” x 20” box canvas.

Recently my Mother expressed an interest in having one of my paintings.  She told me which wall she would like to hang it on and which paintings she preferred.  We settled on “The Homestead”.  But then I started to think about my Mother and the things she likes.  She has often referred to a dream that was to be a part of my parents retirement years.  That dream was to retire by the water somewhere and live in an “A” frame house or cabin.  Sadly that dream has never come true.  I have attempted to paint that dream.  Not an easy task because this is my concept of what that dream may have been and not perhaps what my Mother has envisioned all these years.  If nothing else it is bright and cheery and it includes some of my Mother’s favourite flowers, yellow daisies.

Cheers, Susan

A Lazy Eagle River

Original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 12” x 36” canvas

This is a painting of the Eagle River.  The river meanders threw the Eagle Valley and drains into Shuswap Lake.  This is where I live. Eagle River moves rather slowly or lazily on a hot summers day.  A different story come spring run off.  On this summers day when I took the photo the reflections and surrounding scenery were inspiring.  Who couldn’t resist taking photos or painting an image?  The canvas itself is a bit of an odd size and has been sitting in my stock pile for awhile now waiting for this opportunity.

This painting is offered for sale.  $175.00 plus shipping.

I do welcome comments.

Country Lane

Original painting by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 20” x 24” canvas

Unframed-asking price $150.00

Recently I found a photo in a magazine that really caught my eye.  The picture seemed so calm, cool and relaxing.  I just had to paint the scene.  Here is my rendition of that photo.  I hope I have managed to capture the same serene feeling the photo held.  If nothing else perhaps it is a nice country scene and all can enjoy it as much as I.

As per usual this painting is for sale and your comments are welcome.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my art.  Susan Feniak

Also, I will give credit to the original photographer.  I believe that to be a Andreas Trauttmansdorff.
