“Wisp” #WorldWatercolorGroup

IMG_20160823_111913“Wisp” #WorldWatercolorGroup   Its been a while since I last visited the Killdeer family.  Sproink, Goink, Frisk, and Doink have long since left the nest.  This year I see “Wisp” has joined the family and no doubt several more chicks are not far off.  If I keep my imagination working perhaps there will be more put down on paper or canvas.  They are a lot of fun to visit and create.  Cheers!  PEACE

“Doe Eyes” #WorldWatercolorGroup

IMG_20160810_103109“Doe Eyes” #Worldwatercolorgroup  This girl was a quick sketch done on the aft deck a few days ago.  Even the photo has a hurried look.  I must have been in a hurry to go swimming.  Or beer bobbing. I should have stopped with the white ink sooner but she had a fuzzy look about her, molting? shedding?  age?  We see deer all the time where we boat.  Bears too.  Original art by Susan Feniak  Koi water color on Strathmore 140lb cold press paper. 2″x 3″

“Blue Hydrangea” #WorldWatercolorGroup  Original art by Susan Feniak. Koi watercolors on Opus Finest Watercolour pad. 7.5″ x 11.5″  Not much to say about this one except I am pleased with how it turned out. A good way to spend some time while bobbing on the back of the boat on a rainy day.  Happy Sunday! PEACEIMG_20160818_154553

#WorldWatercolorGroup Favorite Flower

IMG_20160803_084900#WorldWatercolorGroup  Favorite Flower is the prompt for today.  Being a retired florist and avid gardener I love all flowers but if I had to pick one it would have to be tulips.  Perhaps because to me they signify the end of winter and the coming of spring.  After a long winter warmer sunny days are always welcomed by me.  Cutting bundles of tulips from the garden and having vases of them about the house, bliss!!

For this #WorldWatercolorGroup sketch I did not pre-draw anything preferring to keep everything where the paint brush took me.  One thing led to another so splattering and smiles ensued.  My pink tulip is in the middle of a spring rain.  That’s my story and I am sticking to it.  Original art by Susan Feniak.  Holdbein Artists’ water color on Strathmore 140lb cold press paper.

I will be on hiatus for most of the month.  But I will try to catch up whenever possible.  Have fun!! Cheers.  PEACE

#WorldWatercolorGroup Favorite Childhood Toy

IMG_20160802_131328#WorldWatercolorGroup Favorite Childhood Toy  I had a moment today to think of a favorite childhood toy.  I preferred the unusual.  For a girl.  I played cars with my older brother a lot.  Lego was adored.  In my day there were only red or white blocks.  Now there is a multitude of sizes and shapes.  Oh, I had Barbie dolls, Trolls, a Chatty Cathy doll, Jane West and her horse.  I even sewed Barbie’s wardrobe for her.  Cut the trolls hair and more then likely Chatty Cathy’s too.  Only to learn it didn’t grow back. There were Lincoln logs too.  A bike or two a trike and a wagon tied end for end to make into a train.  I made my Dad’s old saw horses into pony’s by putting a blanket on them and a hank of rope for reins.  But I always came back to playing with Lego and Match Box cars (a.k.a. Dinky cars) with my brother.  When I ever had an allowance, 10 or 15 cents, I would buy a new Dinky Car.  If it had a door or a hood that opened I would be tickled pink.  Simpler days indeed.  One had to use their imagination.  I was one of those kids that had to be called more then once to come in for dinner.   And then I would only eat a peanut butter sandwich because that is all I liked.  But that is another story for another time.  Hope you have enjoyed revisiting your childhood today thinking of that toy!  Cheers.  PEACE

#WorldWatercolorMonth July28

IMG_20160727_114920#WorldWatercolorMonth July 28  I have done so many paintings this month I can’t come up with a name for this one.  It is another experiment without drawing before I paint and it is another landscape and tree for which I need practise.  So here it is.  I might be running out of names but there is no lack of ideas!  Cheers.  PEACE!  Maybe this scene will help.
