Juxtaposition?

Un-finished painting but had to post this anyway.  For interest sake.  Its hard to believe that my latest painting is based on the water lilies that were in my pond just a short couple of months ago.  Just look at the frozen snowy landscape it is now!!

Hopefully I will have time to complete the painting in the next little while.  In the meantime enjoy the wonderland that is my yard and pond this day.

A Lazy Eagle River

Original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 12” x 36” canvas

This is a painting of the Eagle River.  The river meanders threw the Eagle Valley and drains into Shuswap Lake.  This is where I live. Eagle River moves rather slowly or lazily on a hot summers day.  A different story come spring run off.  On this summers day when I took the photo the reflections and surrounding scenery were inspiring.  Who couldn’t resist taking photos or painting an image?  The canvas itself is a bit of an odd size and has been sitting in my stock pile for awhile now waiting for this opportunity.

This painting is offered for sale.  $175.00 plus shipping.

I do welcome comments.

Shuswap Shore

Original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 18” x 24” box canvas

NO LONGER AVAILABLE Every year after spring run off the shore line of Shuswap Lake is left littered with driftwood.  I came across this interesting arrangement of debris late last spring after the high water had receded.  For interest sake I should mention the spring snow melt is what causes the lake level to rise.  Most years it rises fifteen feet or more.  Entire trees bob around the lake until they find a final resting place on the Shuswap Shore.

This painting is offered for sale.  The asking price is $150.00 plus shipping.

Good Morning Rendevous!

Original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 18” x 24” box canvas

If you can imagine waking up to this view in the morning then you will understand why I love boating on the Shuswap.  This particular morning was extraordinary.  The lake was calm and the reflections were inspiring.  Rendevous, a marine park on the Anstey Arm of Shuswap Lake, is one of our favourite places to wake up at.  Spending several days anchored there is better yet!

A welcoming scene on this November day.

This painting is for sale and is offered at $150.00 plus shipping.

Country Lane

Original painting by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 20” x 24” canvas

Unframed-asking price $150.00

Recently I found a photo in a magazine that really caught my eye.  The picture seemed so calm, cool and relaxing.  I just had to paint the scene.  Here is my rendition of that photo.  I hope I have managed to capture the same serene feeling the photo held.  If nothing else perhaps it is a nice country scene and all can enjoy it as much as I.

As per usual this painting is for sale and your comments are welcome.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my art.  Susan Feniak

Also, I will give credit to the original photographer.  I believe that to be a Andreas Trauttmansdorff.

Bridge at Inveraray

Original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 24” x 36” box canvas

No frame needed asking price $200.00

Scotland.  Another muse?  After being to Scotland three times this scene is a particular favorite of mine. My third attempt at painting it!  Hopefully I have been more successful capturing the essence of Scotland and Inveraray with this version then I did with my first two attempts. I will admit that perhaps I tackled the first two a tad early for a beginner.  I may just post a comparison sometime to prove my point.

This is a bigger then usual canvas for me and I took my time.  A lot of time!  The bridge does indeed have that blue tinge to it.

Now I better get back to reality and work!

As always your comments are welcome.  This painting is for sale although you may have to wrestle it out of my hands!  That being said my husband would probably gladly give it away!

The Homestead

Original art By Susan Feniak  acrylic on 16”x20” box canvas

No frame needed asking price $125.00

I had fun doing this one.  It is from a series of images rambling around in my head.  I set to work at my easel just yesterday.  Two afternoons later and voila here it is.  This is a bit of a homage to my husband’s family who are originally from northern Alberta.

Of course there is a great deal of artistic license happening here with the addition of wild flowers and color, lots of color again!  Not just an old hay field, not for me.

As always comments are welcome.  And the painting is for sale.

Hope you like it! Susan

Walk in the wood

UPDATE I AM HAPPY TO SAY THE RECIPIENT LIKES HER PRIZE! Acrylic on canvas board 11” x 14” original art by Susan Feniak  This is actually the smallest painting I have tackled in awhile.  It is to be a thank you for someone.  I find it difficult to paint a picture for someone else.  Especially if its a gift or surprise and they haven’t had a say in what they like or want.  All I know is she has admired my other paintings, Down Looking Up and A Sicamous Fall Day.  This is what I came up with for her.  I hope she likes it, let lone wants it!

Eagle River Bend

Original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on canvas 20” x 24’’
Unframed asking price $175.00
I like to think I am developing my own style of painting.  Being picture perfect isn’t the goal.  Eagle River Bend is my latest attempt.  Whether it is the correct or the right way to paint a landscape picture I have no idea.  Being untrained I rely on my eye and my gut.  Hopefully it is pleasing enough to gaze at for my followers and viewers alike.

It was my husbands idea to name the painting “Eagle River Bend”.  I was going to call it Eagle River Autumn.  The river certainly bends, winds, twists, and curves its way threw the Eagle valley.  So “Bend” is appropriate.  This bend is near the Sicamous Nature Trail and if memory serves it was a particularly lovely autumn day.

This painting like the rest is available for sale.  I know a certain artist that would appreciate any comment or critique the viewer may have to offer.

Thank you for taking the time to look!  Susan
