Another revision in progress….

Now you see it….
Now you don’t….
The start of something new….
Progress…?
More progress.
And more progress.

Another revision is in progress on my easel. I  painted the original in October of 2021. Shortly after my dear brother died.   I was never completely happy with the original painting. Considering the circumstances no one, including myself, should be surprised by that. At the time I thought that I would live with the painting for awhile, think on it.  I did manage to give it a title,  “Ebb andFlow”. Lately I have been giving this painting and another one a great deal of thought.  No better time than the present to have a go at revising and hopefully improving it.

My husband says the sand bar looks like it’s pushing the water. Oh oh. That doesn’t sound good. It’s supposed to be the other way around with the water pushing and surrounding the sand bar. What do you think? All that being said the painting/revision is still a work in progress. Time will tell…..

And here it is….

Floral Extravaganza at home
Floral Extravaganza

Wahoo!! Can you see me smile? I am very pleased with how “Floral Extravaganza” looks hanging on the wall above the bed. That makes the redecorated bedroom complete.

I am calling my latest painting, Floral Extravaganza, done! Since it’s still drying some more tweaking could happen.  In my previous blog I shared the beginning of this painting. Days and hours of creating later here it is. If only an artist got paid by the hour!

Normally I don’t try to match or do art specifically to match a room, or furniture, or bedding. My rule of thumb is if you love it will work.  But the new bedding was calling me to create Floral Extravaganza.

Today my husband and I quietly celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary. We both can’t believe it’s been 49 years. Time truly does fly. Love does conquer all of life’s foibles.

September was a busy month…

Carey, my husband

September was a busy month. Carey, my husband retired! At 71 years young it was time. Anyway it was cause for celebration. We also celebrated his birthday. In between all the celebrating I was busily filling an order for 10 of my “one of a kind” Christmas cards. Sorry, but it is that time of year again.  When an artist has to plan and come up with fresh ideas for Christmas. In between that creativity I was making more cards to sell at a store here in Sicamous called, Willow. There was the limited edition 2025 calendars to design.  And more painting and creating with Mara Muse, my favorite piece so far this year. I didn’t include a photo of it but you can check it out on a previous blog.

So, as you can see September was a busy month. Now I have to settle down and start the long process of getting our houseboat ready for winter. We will be moving to town soon and closing At Last for the season.

Hope everyone had a fabulous summer. Cheers

“Mara Muse” SOLD

From the kitchen of our boat!
“Mara Muse” 🔴

This paintinghas since Sold. 🔴 “Mara Muse”. I have been trying to capture the view from the aft deck of our houseboat for 8 years. That’s how long we’ve owned our boat. I think that I succeeded today! Yay! I have made several attempts but this one makes my heart sing. See me smile. Funny something that is so near and dear can be so difficult to duplicate. But not today. I started and finished this painting in one day. Yes, you read that correctly, one day. I found the zone. Nothing feels better to an artist than that zone. Trust me.

“Mara Muse” Artist Susan Feniak. Acrylic on a 16″ x 20″ gallery wrapped canvas. Asking $250.00 cdn plus shipping.

“The Sun and Moon” Sold 🔴

Sold 🔴 “The Sun and Moon.” Or El sol y la luna. The latest painting drying on my easel. One of my favorite places is Zihuatanejo Mexico. A fishing village on the Pacific coast. This painting is my depiction of two Zihua fishing boats, known as pangas, resting at anchor. Normally at the end of the day these boats are hauled up onto the beach. But I wanted to show how beautiful the water is so my boats are at anchor. I have painted many boats without issue but these two started out a bit wonky. I am pretty sure I fixed that. And before anyone mentions it, yes I broke a rule and placed the boats dead centre!! No rule of thirds in this one. It’s about the colors, ocean, and boats. My loves.

“Summery Show”

Summery Show

I am pleased to share with you the latest painting from my easel,  “Summery Show”.

What other flower, other than perhaps sunflowers, brighten anyone’s flower garden? Rudbeckia of course! Also know as Black Eyed Susan’s.

Here I have enjoyed showing off the beauty of what some would consider an old fashioned garden favorite. In my world they are a standard for any garden. They were always in mine.

This painting is all about the showy blooms. I treated the foliage as a minor player, lacking detail.

Artist Susan Feniak. Acrylic on a 20″ x 24″ gallery wrapped canvas,  painted on all sides. Asking $350.00 cdn  not including shipping. If you are interested in “Summery Show” or any of my other works my email address is: sfeniakart@gmail.com

Thank you taking the time to read this blog.

New W.I.P. Summer Flowers

A new painting in progress on my easel. It was 40C here today so I am having to use Goldens Retarder to keep my acrylic paints from drying on my palette. There are once again visible wildfires burning near us and smoke fills the air. The predicted cooler temperatures later this week and perhaps a bit of rain will ease our concerns. In the meantime summer flowers continue to bloom seemingly unconcerned be everything else happening in our world. I am always inspired by that and their beauty.

This is a work in progress. Artist Susan Feniak. Acrylic on a 20″ x 24″ gallery wrapped canvas.

“Mr. Heron” SOLD

Meet “Mr. Heron”. He is a neighbor of ours at Three Buoys Marina in Sicamous. I probably do a portrait of him once a year. Sometimes more, sometimes none. He inspires me. What can I say? The photos aren’t exactly in the right order but I am pretty sure they will give the gist of my process.

When I come up with a better title you will be the first to know. In the meantime I hope you enjoy meeting Mr. Heron, again. If you have any comments or are interested in owning Mr. Heron, the painting, please feel free to email me at sfeniakart@gmail.com
