A Busy Highland Tarmac

Original Quick Sketch By Susan Feniak  Hobein Water Colors, Pigma Pens on Cranson Mix Media Paper.

Its been awhile since I last visited the Highlands of Scotland but I do remember the sheep lining the roads.  They would sedately munch beside the tarmac and watch the few vehicles roll on by.  We as tourists had to snap a few photos before moving along.  Perhaps all the rain here today reminded me of my ancestral home.  I have nothing but fond memories of Scotland and my times spent there.  I will gladly visit again one day.  Hope you enjoy my quick sketch of some fun memories.

Cheers, Susan Feniak

Missing “Lifeline”

original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 12” x 16” box canvas

It is only October and all ready I am missing our beautiful “Lifeline”.  Since today was rather an inclement day I decided to spend time at my easel.  Subject matter and inspiration were the question of the day.  Of course the first thing that came to mind were our lazy sun filled days spent on board our cruiser “Lifeline”.   So here she is anchored at Hermits Bay on Shuswap Lake.  We will have to wait months for our next adventure.  In the meantime I have paintings, photos, and wonderful memories to help me threw the winter months ahead. Because this is a painting of our boat it is not available for sale.

Long Beach Breakers

original art by Susan Feniak   Golden brand acrylics on 16” x 18” box canvas.  Here it is!  Finished!  I got into the zone for this one.  A dreary day is the best kind of day to spend at ones easel and escape.  And escape I did.  So much so I can almost hear the ocean and the cry of the gulls.  Here is hoping you enjoy this one as much as I loved painting it.  Now where do I hang it?

Cheers Susan Feniak This painting is for sale at $175 plus shipping and handling

In Progress

original art by Susan Feniak   Okay so here it is in progress.  There were enough requests to see my lastest sketch, “Long Beach BC” ,on a bigger canvas that I decided to go for it.  This is my first sea scape of any size.  The original sketch was my first sea scape period.  As you know I usually stick to our very own Shuswap Lake.  I will post the final product when I am done.  Hope you like it.  Better yet please feel free to let me know how I am doing!  Cheers, Susan Feniak

Long Beach BC

original art by Susan Feniak  Holdbein Water Color on Canson Mix Media 7” x 10” paper

A quick sketch today.  I managed to produce this one in about one hours time.  Recently my Brother, Sister and Mother took a trip to Long Beach on Vancouver Island.  A life long dream of my Sister’s fulfilled.  While there she took many photo’s and video’s which she has since shared with me.  Of course I was immediately inspired.  In my quest to practice more with water colors I bought myself a nice new set of Holbein Water Colors.  What do you think?  Have they helped me?

Thinking of my Sister this day.  Enjoy! Susan Feniak

Lazy DL

Original art by Susan Feniak  framed acrylic on small canvas and a sketch in water color based on a photo.

Recently we were invited to a party that celebrated a couples joint 60th Birthday, 40th Wedding Anniversary and their retirement.  Since it is impossible to find a greeting card that includes all those celebrations in one I decided to make them a card.  We go boating together so I felt the perfect subject would be a painting of their boat “Lazy D L”.  I only had a small photo to go by so the magnifying glass had to be brought out. Then what started as a card ended up as a 4” x 6” small painting on canvas that I then framed and wrapped up for them.  I do hope they like it.  We certainly enjoyed the party! A gift so NFS

The Gang Is All Here

Original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 12”x 24” box canvas

Well the gang was all here!  I see Frisk has decided to run away.  It is hard to corral a gaggle of Killdeer chicks.  Or so it would seem.  Sproink, Doink, Fuzzle and Goink are still here.

It was another rainy day and another chance for me to play.  Oh happy day!

Hope this one brings a smile to your face!  It has mine.  Cheers, Susan Feniak For sale $125 plus shipping and handling

Rainy Day Musings

Original art by Susan Feniak  It was a two painting day!  Being unable to get motivated and work in my office I decided to spend a quiet day with my art supplies.  I played with my water colors, water color pencils and archival ink.  Since I am lucky enough to have several sketch books I was able to work on one sketch while the other one dried.   The first painting is of the field at the end of our street.  I admit to using some artist discretion and added a barn and path where there was neither.  It is a rather neglected weedy field.  Every year someone bales it and then leaves the bales to moulder away until next years crop.  I am certain the bales are homes to many a furry creature come winter!

The second painting of the day is another of my Killdeer chicks that I have grown rather fond of painting!  May I introduce you to “Goink”.  He is a rather long legged wee chap.  If you were to ask me I would also say irresistible!

I could not have spent my quiet rainy day in a better way!  How about you?

Cheers, Susan Feniak
