It is only October and all ready I am missing our beautiful “Lifeline”. Since today was rather an inclement day I decided to spend time at my easel. Subject matter and inspiration were the question of the day. Of course the first thing that came to mind were our lazy sun filled days spent on board our cruiser “Lifeline”. So here she is anchored at Hermits Bay on Shuswap Lake. We will have to wait months for our next adventure. In the meantime I have paintings, photos, and wonderful memories to help me threw the winter months ahead. Because this is a painting of our boat it is not available for sale.
Cheers, Susan Feniak

Recently we were invited to a party that celebrated a couples joint 60th Birthday, 40th Wedding Anniversary and their retirement. Since it is impossible to find a greeting card that includes all those celebrations in one I decided to make them a card. We go boating together so I felt the perfect subject would be a painting of their boat “Lazy D L”. I only had a small photo to go by so the magnifying glass had to be brought out. Then what started as a card ended up as a 4” x 6” small painting on canvas that I then framed and wrapped up for them. I do hope they like it. We certainly enjoyed the party! A gift so NFS

What a grand way to spend ones vacation time. This is the only drawing or doodle I managed to produce the entire time. That should say just how much of a vacation we were enjoying! I will get back into normal just as soon as I can. It may take awhile!!!

We are in the middle of a heat wave here. The perfect place to be is on the aft deck of Lifeline anchored out on the lake somewhere. This time I had my sketch book and some art supplies. There was a dead tree on shore not far from where we were. I found it to be an interesting subject. The other sketch is of one of my favourite scenes at Hermits Bay. It speaks for itself. A funky rock formation with tenacious trees hanging on for dear life.

NO LONGER AVAILABLE Every year after spring run off the shore line of Shuswap Lake is left littered with driftwood. I came across this interesting arrangement of debris late last spring after the high water had receded. For interest sake I should mention the spring snow melt is what causes the lake level to rise. Most years it rises fifteen feet or more. Entire trees bob around the lake until they find a final resting place on the Shuswap Shore.
This painting is offered for sale. The asking price is $150.00 plus shipping.
Good Morning Rendevous!

If you can imagine waking up to this view in the morning then you will understand why I love boating on the Shuswap. This particular morning was extraordinary. The lake was calm and the reflections were inspiring. Rendevous, a marine park on the Anstey Arm of Shuswap Lake, is one of our favourite places to wake up at. Spending several days anchored there is better yet!
A welcoming scene on this November day.

Flying Cloud at Anchor

It has been a rather wet day. I did not feel like working at the computer so I decided to play. But take up a challenge too. Time to tackle a more complicated water color. This one with all the angles and details was indeed a challenge. Hopefully I was up to the task. It was also a bit of an experiment, using a mixture of tubed water colors, pan water colors and my water color pencils. I have a limited selection of pencil colors. I also used a fan brush, small round brush and a q-tip. There is a couple of different sized Archival ink pens involved and a silver felt pen for the chrome on Flying Cloud. As my own critic it seems to me I am just as heavy handed with water colors as I am with acrylics. Color and lots of it. I did have fun and that is the main thing.
