“Let Fly”

After several paintings in a row that were time consuming and detail oriented I decided to let fly with a pallet knife and paints.
This painting is the result. I had fun smearing and spreading paint around the canvas. Creating lots of texture. It was a much needed change.

Drying on my easel, “Sail Away”. I took a bit of a break after World Watercolor Month and a very busy July. Of a sudden yesterday I had the urge to put palette knife, brush and paint to canvas. Oh joy! Artist Susan Feniak. Golden Artist Acrylics and heavy gel gloss on a 20″ x 20″ canvas. There is a lot of texture in this one. And it was a lot of fun, I even used a credit card to spread and smear the paint. A true escape from the trial and tribulations this past few weeks have thrown at us. Let me know what you think. Celebrating 10 years, here on WordPress.
“Tropical Daze” is the title I have given to my latest fun painting. After another set back I am forging ahead with my art. I won’t let rejection get me down, not this gal. This is a brand new painting on my easel, still drying. I certainly enjoyed using my palette knife while creating this piece. I used a palette almost exclusively. There is very little brush work. I did make use of some cheesecloth to add different texture, especially to the clouds. All in all great fun. It seems that these days if I am not thinking about spring I am thinking about some tropical paradise. Or so it would seem by my artistic endeavors. My new easel is no longer new looking. Tropical Daze is acrylic and gloss medium on a 20″ x 20″ gallery canvas, framed with a metal white frame. Asking $200

Waves Brilliant Dance. My latest painting is still drying on my easel. These days the ocean and waves seem to be my muse. That comes as no surprise to me. To achieve the texture I used several different palette knives and a credit card. The entire painting was done without a brush. Admittedly this technique is hard on my acrylic paint supply. Even using Goldens soft gel gloss to extend my paint it sucked up lots. Did I have fun? No need to ask. Did I make a big mess with paint smeared everywhere, even on my phone? You bet. A joyful mess. I am pleased with the end result.
