“The Puddle” original art by Susan Feniak. Golden Acrylics and Golden Heavy Gel medium on 20″×20″ canvas. Okay so officially this one drove me right batty! I had a vision in my head but transferring that vision to canvas proved difficult. That being said I had a grand time mucking about with the heavy gel medium. My latest painting, from a photo I took late last summer along one of my favourite places to walk, Raven Trail, Salmon Arm, B.C. Canada. My home town. The trail meanders along the foreshore of Salmon Arm Bay. It is a nature preserve and bird sanctuary. Sights to behold whilst walking the trail are a beaver dam, and den, assorted wild life and wild fowl that include swans, grebes, geese, blue herons, and last summer a flock of white pelicans visited there. Just a little something I have been working on. I have been discovering some great places to walk around our new home in Salmon Arm. It amazes me just how many trails there are. While out and about on these nature trails I am getting inspired. This painting is based on yet another photo that I took this past summer. Pretty sure there will be more to inspire me as I investigate our new surroundings.

A Nice Day For A Walk

I did add some Canada Geese flying in formation but I have not taken another photo of the painting. It was a nice day for a walk along the nature trail in Salmon Arm Bay. The biggest water colour I have tackled to date. At the moment I am not sure if this one is finished or not. I don’t want to over work it. Usually I am happy or pleased with the end product. Perhaps its because this is a water colour that has me doubting. It has been fun playing and spending time at my easel.

The Annual Sicamous Arts & Crafts Show will be opening at The Red Barn Tuesday June 30th and will run to Saturday July 4th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. There will also be a Meet the Artists evening Monday June 29th 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. I will have four of my paintings on display and for sale for the duration of the show. “Belize Skiff”, “Thoughts of Spring”, “Winterized” and “My Pink Pond Lilies”. The first is a busy Front Street scene from Caye Caulker Belize. All the roads on Caye Caulker are of beautiful compact white sand. If a person stops and looks at where they are walking they will see sea shells and bits of coral mixed in with the sand. I may have gotten carried away with the shade from the palm trees making that white sand disappear. It is a quick sketch with mixed results, right? The other sketch is strictly from my imagination. A bit idyllic I would say. “A Busy Front Street” is Staedtler Watercolour Pencils on Canson Mixed Media 7”x10” paper. “Small Island” is Staedtler Watercolour Pencils on Opus Essentials Sketchbook 8 1/2” x 11” paper. p.s. The only pavement we saw while on Caye Caulker was the airport runway. No need for roads when the biggest mode of transportation are two wheeled bikes, golf carts or your very own two feet. Bliss.
