As we start a new year I would like to take a moment to thank everyone that supported me in my artistic endeavors during 2021. A special thank you to my peers. Becoming an active member of The Federation of Canadian Artists was the highlight of my year.
I am looking forward to 2022, optimistically and positively. Since I am now officially retired I will now have more time for art, blogging and social media. Look out!
Happy New Year! My very best wishes to you for a healthy, happy and creative 2022. Cheers Susan Feniak

I started this painting ages ago, perhaps a month has gone by. The Christmas card assembly line has taken over my art space and my paying job has sucked up my time. I haven’t managed to get back to this painting to finish it. Between one thing and another there just hasn’t been enough hours in my days. Since I am looking forward to retiring soon I will have more time. Maybe then this painting will finally get my attention. Looking forward to it. Cheers Susan Feniak.

These are the ten paintings that I submitted to the Federation of Canadian Artists to achieve my “Active Member” status. All of them are acrylic on canvas. Various sizes. They are all original either from my imagination or from a memory. Sometimes I use a photo that I have taken for inspiration. Regardless a jury of my peers thought at least six or more of the ten (six being the minimum) were good enough to be juried into any art show hosted by the FCA in Canada. I am thrilled to have accomplished this feat as it has been a personal goal of mine for some time.
Hope you enjoy. Cheers Susan Feniak
An achievement!

I am proud to announce that I achieved my Active Status in the prestigious Federation of Canadian Artists. I submitted 10 of my most recent paintings to the Federation (FCA) to be juried by my peers. This was my fourth or fifth attempt and at last success! I feel honored. I will continue to practice and to learn. Most of all I will continue to enjoy creating. Art is essential!

“Ebb and Flow”. My latest painting. As in life, water has ebbs and flow. Or maybe I mean as in water and the ocean tides, life has its ebbs and flow. Regardless, this painting reminds me of my brother and his love of the ocean. I was thinking of him while painting it. One of his favorite places was Tofino, situated on the west coast of Vancouver Island. I will and am missing my brother but I have all the happy wonderful memories of all the times spent with him. A lifetime. Dedicated to David, with love, Ebb and Flow. Gone, never to be forgotten.

I have another painting started on my easel. Barely started. But here are a few progress photos. I have been doing so many floral creations lately that I decided it was time for a change. Cheers Susan Feniak. Acrylic on a 24″ x 24″ gallery canvas.

“Anfractuous”. Truly a labor of love, this painting is complete and drying on my easel. If you look up the meaning of the word anfractuous, you will understand why I gave this painting that name. I hope you like it. Cheers Susan Feniak.

It helps that I have a beautiful bunch of sunflowers sitting on our table to inspire me. After this, I think that I will be finished with florals for awhile. It will be time for something else. I hope you enjoy my progress reports….

With these photos I am showing you the different stages of my process and progress. All were posted on my Instagram and Facebook accounts. #susanseasel Luckily for me “Splendiferous” sold within 1/2 hour of my posting it on my Facebook feed. Thank you to the purchaser who happens to be a collector of my art. For the first time ever I gessoed over a painting that I started earlier this summer. I can’t explain it, I have never lost interest in a painting before. I didn’t know what to do. It’s not like me to loose interest in a painting. That being said there have been many extenuating circumstances that probably caused me to loose that interest. It’s been a ruff and tumble summer for us. Am I ever glad I did what I did. Lesson learned. This painting is a far better one than the original and I was in a far happier space creating it.

Small by my standard. These are the progress photos and the final painting. I decided to leave the background white. Maybe it’s the start of a new trend? The title is “Yellow Maze”. If you were interested in purchasing this painting you are too late as it SOLD almost immediately. Thank you to the purchaser. Selling art has been a tuff slog this summer as venues have been few and far between. I am fortunate to have sold anything. As always I am grateful to have someone like my art enough to hang in their home and personal space. Cheers Susan
