#NatureDoodlewash Tree Swallow

June 14  This could actually be another scene from the aft deck of our boat.  A pair of tree swallows have built a nest inside a hole in a piling on our dock.  We have enjoyed watching them coming and going busily feeding a nest full of young.  On occasion the pair appear to be having words over how to raise and feed their young with a great deal of bickering back and forth.  But soon they go back to busily coming and going.  A cacophony arises from the nest with each trip.   The youngsters have all left the nest now.  But it would appear the couple are preparing for another batch.  The cycle will begin again and we will be entertained some more.

#NatureDoodlewash  Once again I have used Neocolor II Caran D’Ache combined with Gallery Mungyo Watercolor Crayons.  I really need to get myself a bigger collection of Neos!!  Original art by Susan Feniak  on Canson Mix Media 7” x 10” paper

Yellow Lily

Tulips or Lily’s seem to be very popular these days so I thought I would try my hand at painting a “Yellow Lily”.  A bright and cheery flower which I have been enjoying a bouquet of for several days.

Draw A Bird Day and #doodlewashaday

original art by Susan Feniak  Neocolor Caran D’Ache, Gallery Mungyo Watercolor Crayons, Holbein Artist Water Colors, Pigma Micron Archival Ink on Canson Mix Media paper.

April 8th  Today instead of doing a National Day I have drawn a bird for Draw A Bird Day.  This youngster is a juvenile Steller’s Jay.  I couldn’t resist such a cute fuzzy character.  (I plucked the imagine from the internet and have no idea who to give credit to for the photo.)  Its been a busy week here at my work desk and easel.  Time for a breather.  Have yourselves a grand weekend.  I am looking forward to seeing all the birdie drawings and posts from my WP friends.  Cheers, Susan

Thank you to Kerfe and Nina at https://methodtwomadness.wordpress.com for hosting Draw A Bird Day again this month.

National Chicken Cordon Bleu Day #doodlewashaday

April 4th  National Chicken Cordon Bleu Day!  And another #doodlewashaday.   Who knew there is a day set aside for Cordon Bleu?  I didn’t.  It is a favourite in this household and now that I have doodlewashed one I think we might just have to partake for supper tonight.

Out of Season

original art by Susan Feniak    Neocolor Caran D’Ache on paper

Sneaking in one more before our weekend break.  You guessed it we were lucky enough to have another stellar day.   Time for some sitting in the  sunshine and more scribbling in my sketch book.  This time the end result was this jaunty Red Cardinal.  A little out of season but why not?  The Neos provided me with just the right color.  Enjoy you weekend.  Cheers, Susan

Raven Trail Boardwalk

original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 20” x 24” canvas   Here it is hot off the easel!  My latest painting, from a photo I took late last summer along one of my favourite places to walk, Raven Trail, Salmon Arm, B.C. Canada.  My home town.  The trail meanders along the foreshore of Salmon Arm Bay.  It is a nature preserve and bird sanctuary.  Sights to behold whilst walking the trail are a beaver dam, and den, assorted wild life and wild fowl that include swans, grebes, geese, blue herons, and last summer a flock of white pelicans visited there.  Hope you enjoy the view and get a sense of what a beautiful spot this is from my painting. Cheers, Susan

#SelfieArt Susan Relaxing

February 25th time for #SelfieArt   In actual fact the 25th will be tomorrow.  But since I am busy tomorrow I am posting my selfie in advance.

original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 9” x 12” paper

This month you get to see me at one of my favourite summer pastimes.  Something our boating friends and I have named “Beer Bobbing” or in my case “Wine Bobbing”.  I can wile away an entire summer afternoon tethered to the swim grid of our boat, ensconced on my “floaty thingy”, sipping on a thermos of chilled wine or cider and just watch the world go by.  A pastime that can’t be beat.  Talk about relaxing.  Don’t forget the sun screen!

Looking forward to seeing what my other selfie artists come up with.

Cheers, Susan
