My first painting of 2020. As yet untitled. Perhaps you can help me name it. Which one do you like “Skiffs at Low Tide” or “High and Dry”? I am keeping this one for now. A birthday present for me by me. Spending time at my easel certainly helps me forget all the goings on in this world of ours. Everyone should try it! Hermit Bay. My latest painting. I need to come up with a name for this one yet. This was the view from our kitchen window on our houseboat last week while beached at Hermit Bay on Shuswap Lake. SOLD Yesterday I busied myself making cards to display and hopefully sale this summer at Three Buoys Marina in Sicamous. Sea dog is one of them. At our marina dogs and boats belong together. Fondly referred to as boater dogs. That being said this fella should be called lake dog. Lake or sea the water is the place to be for me. Boating season begins this weekend. Hooray!

Twilight At The Narrows

This is Brock point at Cinnemousun Narrows, Shuswap Lake. At a certain time of day and the perfect calm conditions Shuswap Lake really does glow with a golden aura. Like a jewel that it is. I have wanted to paint this scene for years. Capture it on canvas as a constant reminder of the beauty. I feel somewhat disappointed with this attempt. Perhaps it’s because I know from first hand experience what it’s like to witness Twilight At The Narrows. Acrylic on 16″ x 20″ box canvas framed.

A Revision

I added more shading on the boats facing away from the sun and added more sun light reflecting in other areas. Hopefully these touches are sufficient to show what I was trying to achieve. Boats sitting calmly under a cloudy sky, surrounded by the glow of a setting sun. My art is available for sale. Tomorrow Is Another Day does not need a frame. $300 plus shipping and handling.

I am actually pleased with how this one turned out. It was nice to visit one of my favourite subjects again. I wonder how this scene would play out on my easel using acrylics?
