#Draw A Bird Day and #NatureDoodlewash

Blue Heron  June 8th  Its time for #Draw A Bird Day again so I am combining it with #NatureDoodlewash for the day.  The Blue Heron speaks for himself.  An elegant and normally shy elusive bird this one liked to visit us while at our marina in Sicamous a couple of summers ago.  I have been meaning to do his portrait ever since.

This #Draw A Bird Day and #NatureDoodlewash  is on Strathmore watercolor paper and painted with Holbein Artists’ Water Color.  Original art by Susan Feniak

Weird Bird Wednesday

Today I thought I would join in the fun with Jill’s Art Journal,  artjillkuhn.wordpress.com  ,and her “Weird Bird Wednesday”.  I hope she doesn’t mind but I couldn’t  resist.  May I present to you a real blast from my past, Twit Bird.  circa 1972  And yes he is as dorky as he looks! This couldn’t possibly be a #doodlewashdinner because really one can’t find a bird from ones imagination edible. I hope!

April 8th  Today instead of doing a National Day I have drawn a bird for Draw A Bird Day.  This youngster is a juvenile Steller’s Jay.  I couldn’t resist such a cute fuzzy character.  (I plucked the imagine from the internet and have no idea who to give credit to for the photo.)  Its been a busy week here at my work desk and easel.  Time for a breather.  Have yourselves a grand weekend.  I am looking forward to seeing all the birdie drawings and posts from my WP friends.  Cheers, Susan

Thank you to Kerfe and Nina at https://methodtwomadness.wordpress.com for hosting Draw A Bird Day again this month.

Thank you to Charlie O’Shields at doodlewash.wordpress.com for #doodlewashaday

Out of Season

original art by Susan Feniak    Neocolor Caran D’Ache on paper

Sneaking in one more before our weekend break.  You guessed it we were lucky enough to have another stellar day.   Time for some sitting in the  sunshine and more scribbling in my sketch book.  This time the end result was this jaunty Red Cardinal.  A little out of season but why not?  The Neos provided me with just the right color.  Enjoy you weekend.  Cheers, Susan

“Waiting Game Two”

original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 9” x 12” paper framed

I was going to save this one for April’s Draw A Bird Day but decided to post it now.  I can always paint another one right?  These two brown pelicans sat in that palm tree keeping my husband company while I was off snorkeling at Silk Caye, Belize.  There is a grand total of five palm trees on the wee atoll of Silk Caye, two picnic tables, an outhouse, a couple of barbecues and a lot of pelicans waiting and watching.  There really isn’t much for a patient husband to do but wait and watch along with the pelicans.   I truly enjoyed my snorkel adventure!  My husband?  Perhaps not so much.

Draw a Bird Day

It is the 8th day of the month.  Time to Draw a Bird or in my case paint one.

“Waiting Game” original art by Susan Feniak acrylic on 8” x 10” paper       Whether napping or fishing this Pelican balanced a top that pole, unruffled, in a good stiff Belize breeze for hours.

I look forward to seeing what my fellow bird drawing bloggers are up to this month!  Cheers, Susan

“All In A Row”

original art by Susan Feniak  acrylic on 18” x 24” box canvas

My first painting of 2016!  Being in need of some sunshine and warmth I recalled this scene from our trip to Belize last winter.  I came across these Pelicans “All In A Row” while riding my bike around Caye Caulker.  The Pelicans are no doubt resting after feeding on the catch of the day or perhaps they are waiting for the next fishing boat to come in.  Maybe they are just sunning themselves.  Whatever they are doing the scene brought back fond memories and that  feeling of sunshine and warmth that I needed.

Cheers, Susan
