Water water everywhere…

“The Zone”

Water water everywhere! I am naming my latest water themed painting ” The Zone”. Simply because I got into a zone whilst painting it. By the time I decided that it was finished I was sure hours had passed. Or at least the entire afternoon. It had only taken me an hour and a half from start to finish. Does this happen to any of you?

Artist Susan Feniak. Golden Artist Acrylics on a 12″ x 24″ gallery canvas. Colors used were Light Green (yellow shade), Green Gold, Cobalt Teal, Azurite Hue, Cerulean Blue Chronium, Titanium White. All favorites of mine.

Continuing Water Theme

SOLD! A new watercolor completed. My watery theme continues with another lighthouse. “When It’s Calm”. At the moment this looks like a tranquil spot. But my imagination tells me it can get wild, battered by storms. Why else have a lighthouse to warn unwary ships? Please do tell me what you think.

Artist Susan Feniak. QoR watercolors and Pixma Micron 02 ink on Fabriano 9.5″ x 12.5″ paper.

A remake of an old favourite.

Lifting Fog 2

Both SOLD Recently the original painting Lifting Fog SOLD. A good thing. Unfortunately while preparing the painting for shipping it got damaged. What to do? Paint another one of course. No choice really but give it a try. You may not realize this but no two paintings turn out the same. Artists are constantly evolving. Learning new techniques, changing styles. The original painting was done two years ago.

Lifting Fog 1

But I wanted to try. I had a paying client to satisfy. I believe that I managed to get it close but not exact. My purchaser has decided to buy the new version. I am thankful for her understanding. I hope she likes it as much as the original.

Artist Susan Feniak. QoR watercolor and ink on Fabriano paper.

“Waves Brilliant Dance”

Waves Brilliant Dance

Waves Brilliant Dance. My latest painting is still drying on my easel. These days the ocean and waves seem to be my muse. That comes as no surprise to me. To achieve the texture I used several different palette knives and a credit card. The entire painting was done without a brush. Admittedly this technique is hard on my acrylic paint supply. Even using Goldens soft gel gloss to extend my paint it sucked up lots. Did I have fun? No need to ask. Did I make a big mess with paint smeared everywhere, even on my phone? You bet. A joyful mess. I am pleased with the end result.

Artist Susan Feniak. Golden Artist Acrylics on 18″ x 24″ gallery canvas. Asking $250. Not framed. Colours used Titanium white, Cerulean Blue Chromium, Azurite Hue, Colbalt Teal, Green Gold, Yellow Ochre and Hansa Yellow Medium.

“Seaside Moment”

“Seaside Moment”. I think that will be the name of my latest painting. I don’t as a rule paint people or children. I decided to challenge myself and tackle my nemesis. Asking $350.00 plus shipping.

Excited

Shine On

I am excited because I had my painting “Shine On” a.k.a. “Trudy Tortuga” printed on canvas shopping bags. As you may know I do not make prints of my art. I made an exception this time. I support living a sustainable life style. Reusable shopping bags is a big part of that sustainability. The original painting Shine On is staying in my private collection. Therefore no one can be upset that I made copies of a painting they have bought. There were 7 bags available. I am down to three. So Trudy is a popular tortuga. She remains a favourite of mine and greets visitors at our door with her smile. Hopefully we can have visitors again one day soon. Stay well my friends.

“Higuera Blanca Breakers”

Higuera Blanca Breakers

“Higuera Blanca Breakers”. While visiting Mexico this past winter I was inspired many times. Perhaps the beach we visited with friends while at Higuera Blanca inspired me the most. It had been a wild windy morning and the Pacific Ocean had whipped itself into an amazing show of powerful frothy surf. Standing on the beach left one feeling dwarfed by the size of the breakers. It was exhilarating. Froth, salt spray, wind and all.

Since our stay in Mexico I am struck by how life has changed. Not just for me personally but for everyone. This is a worldwide crises that includes us all. New expressions like self isolating and social distancing have become our new normal. Being house bound isn’t a difficult thing for an artist. It provides extra hours for one to be creative. There is no fear of boredom. There is no opportunity for that thought to enter our busy minds. For those that are struggling with being “stuck” at home may I suggest that you get yourself some crayons and paper and draw. Be creative. Creativity is the perfect escape from these challenging times. You never know you could very well surprise yourself and us.

Higuera Blanca Breakers is acrylic on 18″ x 24″ x 1.5″ thick canvas. Painted on all sides no frame needed. Artist Susan Feniak. $300
