Cards and more Cards…

It’s a rainy day here. A perfect day to make some more “one of a kind cards”. “Duke and Princess”. Years ago I did a painting similar to this one. At that time I considered it a turning point in my watercolor work. I left it up to the viewer to decide which one is Duke and which one is Princess. I am doing that again this time.

“Fiona” is “Hamish’s” sister. You may remember Hamish from last year. He was a 9″ x 11″ painting. Now hanging in a friend’s home. Fiona is a card I made for another friends birthday. Fiona seems to have managed to get herself into the same predicament as Hamish!

Artist Susan Feniak. Watercolor, gouache and ink on Strathmore card stock. 4″ x 6″.

Daisy in the Daisies

“Daisy in the Daisies” Just look at that expression and those eye lashes! Some girls have all the luck! Artist Susan Feniak. QoR watercolors and ink on Fabriano paper. Approximately 8″ x 10″.

“Lovey”

Meet “Lovey”. From the moment I started drawing this dog I knew his name would be Lovey. In my imagination he is an oldster with kind and knowing eyes. He also has a constant smile. If you haven’t guessed yet, Lovey got his name from the heart on his forehead. Artist Susan Feniak. QoR watercolors and ink on Fabriano paper.

Working on cards…

Juno

I have been working on cards lately. There are several family birthdays and events coming up. I still like sending cards and enjoy making them. “Juno” is based on a painting I loved in the Artists Magazine March/April 2021 issue. The original was done by artist Johne Richardson. I couldn’t resist Juno’s expression and needed to recreate it. The other two cards are self explanatory. All three cards are QoR watercolor, ink and or gouache. Artist Susan Feniak. My cards sell for $10

Two for…

Peek-a-boo
Name or title?

I have two fresh watercolor and ink paintings for you today. Now that the weather has warmed up a wee bit we are spending more time on our boat. There is no internet on our boat or dock. You may not see as much of my art or get many comments or likes from me for the next while. It can’t be helped. I will do what I can when I can. In the meantime here is Zelda Zebra who has been busy since we last saw her. The pond is my imagination at play, an idyllic scene. Both pieces are watercolor, ink and gouache on 11″ x 14″ Fabriano paper. Artist Susan Feniak

Christmas is coming…

A couple of happy snowmen cards to warm us up and remind you that Christmas is coming! Artist Susan Feniak. Watercolor and ink on Strathmore card stock.

Two more designs…

That’s right. I am THAT person that will remind you that Christmas is coming by posting my card designs for 2020. BTW Christmas is coming. There is no avoiding it so we should embrace it. It may just be that something that perks us all up. Goodness knows we can all use some happy these days. My cards are all individually hand painted one of a kind originals. I do not make prints so you won’t see boxes full of them any where. Hope to make you smile today. Cheers Susan

“Cairo”

Cairo

Say hello to Cairo. She is the second of two recently completed commissioned pet portraits. Cairo and her mom loved to go hiking especially in the snow and mountains. Re-creating a snowy mountainous scene was a first for me. Although painting Cairo proved challenging at times I enjoyed the challenge. By the time I was done I didn’t want to let her go. Always and forever a sucker for those puppy dog eyes. Thank you to Mark and Kim for giving me the opportunity and the honor of painting your beloved dogs portraits. (See “Grizz” in my previous blog) Artist Susan Feniak. Acrylic on 16″ x 16″ x 1.5″ canvas. Painted on all sides.

Work In Progress

Meet Grizz

I am working on a couple of dog portraits. This is a much loved and missed black lab named Grizzly. A.K.A. Grizz. I find that I put my heart and soul into pet portraits. I wonder, do other artists find that they do that too? When next you see Grizz I hope his posthumous portrait is completed and his owner is pleased. This is the biggest pet portrait that I have done thus far at 16″ x 16″ x 1.5″ acrylic on canvas. Wish me luck. Cheers Susan
