More “one of kind” cards! They seem to be what I enjoy creating the most these days. Perhaps it’s the lack of venues to sell my bigger paintings? Or perhaps it’s because small is easier for me? Or perhaps it’s all I feel like doing at the moment. Regardless I hope you enjoy my mini pieces of original art.

Lately I have not been doing much art work. Yesterday I decided to make some time and create something. The results are the two, “one of a kind” cards shown here. I always seem to have fun creating my cards. If nothing else they are whimsical. They are also mini pieces of original art that you can keep and frame or send to someone for a special occasion.

I enjoy creating my critters. These two “one of a kind” cards were dropped off at Rikki Lou Who’s Gift Emporium on Thursday. It’s a lovely shop on Alexander Street downtown Salmon Arm. The owner of the shop likes to carry unique gifts and she supports several local artists. I am grateful for the opportunity. Now if only I could find a venue for some of my bigger paintings.

My latest painting has a title. The concensus was a variation on Daffodilicious, Daffodilushious etc. so I settled on Daffodelicious. My great Grandmother’s Daffo-dum-dilies can wait for another time.

Drying on my easel, new art. As you can tell by the subject matter I started this one months ago. At the time I lost interest in it. What can I say? I started several paintings and didn’t finish any of them. It happens. Now I am back on both creative feet and ready to finish what I started.
Now it’s up to you and me to give this painting a title. “Daffo-dum-dilies”, or “Daffodilicious”. My great grandmother used to call daffodils Daffo-dum-dilies. My husband suggested Daffodilicious.

Photo 1 Today I completed my first bigger painting in a long time. It felt good. I am happy to be back at my easel.
I would like to thank photographer Mark Schroeder for giving me permission to use his beautiful and inspirational photo of Shuswap Lake. It was the perfect muse to set me back on my artistic journey.

Photo 2 Today was our youngest Grand daughters 11th birthday. This little corgi is the card I made for her. Last summer when she stayed with us for a few days I asked her what would be her favorite dog breed and her response was “corgi”. Grandma enjoyed making this one.

The 44th annual Art Show and Sale hosted by the Eagle Valley Brush and Palette Club and Eagle Valley Arts Council will be held June 30th to July 3rd 2023 at the Sicamous Council Chambers, district office building on Main Street Sicamous BC. I will have 4 paintings in the show and a table full of my “one of a kind” cards and small paintings. There will be a meet the artist night June 29th 7 to 9 p.m. It’s always a fun weekend in Sicamous so come by and check out all the Canada Day festivities and the art show.

Here are a few of the cards that I have created lately. Cards seem to be the only art that I am interested in creating these days. I am not sure if I should be worried about that or not. But at least I am doing something creative. I suppose there has been a lot on my plate lately. I am positive that I will have the urge to splash paint on a bigger scale soon. I am still keeping busy creating my “one of a kind” greeting cards. Keeping things simple. Other than puttindg a coat of gesso on a 24″ x 24″ canvas I haven’t spent any time at my easel. Not since coming home from Mexico. I haven’t felt like it. I thought that I had lots of inspiration and was ready to get busy but as soon as I stand at my easel all is lost. Perhaps I have a bit of a block happening? On the other hand I am able to create these cards. A veritable plethora of them. I am having fun with them, they make me smile. That is sufficient, for now.
