“Heartsease” has received some more revisions. I am particularly fussy about putting this view onto canvas. It is, after all, our favorite view of Mara Lake BC. I am now happy with what I see. And feel that Heartsease doesn’t need anymore tweaks or revisions. All ready for your viewing enjoyment.
Speaking of revisions, “Ebb and Flow” also got a few more tweaks or highlights. It will be ready for varnishing soon. In the meantime it’s ready for everyone’s visual enjoyment.

It’s the first real cold snowy day we’ve had so far this fall. So what does an artist do? Paint a bright sunny day!
I painted Mara Twilight back in 2022. It’s moved from wall to wall at our house. It’s featured on my 2024 calendar this month but it’s had no real interest or inquiries. I decided it needed brightening up. So I nixed the darkness of twilight and changed it to a bright sunny day. It’s much the same as my painting “Mara Muse”. I miss that painting so this one may replace it.
Not only did I totally change the painting I will have to change the title too. Any suggestions?

This paintinghas since Sold. 🔴 “Mara Muse”. I have been trying to capture the view from the aft deck of our houseboat for 8 years. That’s how long we’ve owned our boat. I think that I succeeded today! Yay! I have made several attempts but this one makes my heart sing. See me smile. Funny something that is so near and dear can be so difficult to duplicate. But not today. I started and finished this painting in one day. Yes, you read that correctly, one day. I found the zone. Nothing feels better to an artist than that zone. Trust me.

Sunset on Mara. This painting has a lot of meaning for me. It is emotionally charged. Firstly it is the first painting since the death of our youngest son. Secondly it is based on a photo that I took the evening after his death. I could see a bird taking flight in the cloud formation. It was a perfect evening and a spectacular sunset. A beautiful memory to have and hold. Ergo it had to be memorialized on canvas by my hands, brushes and imagination.

“Mara Twilight”. Believe it or not I have completed another painting. I am continually inspired by the views that I am fortunate enough to enjoy during the warmer months of the year. This painting is based on a photo that I took from the back of our houseboat late last summer. It had been a wet stormy day. The weather cleared as the sun set to reveal this glorious scene. My latest painting “Hyde to Mara”, is DONE! This painting is based on a photo I took last summer. Lunch at the Hyde Mountain golf course includes this idyllic view of Mara Lake in beautiful British Columbia. Playing golf is not for me but I will gladly enjoy lunch at the golf course just to partake of the views from many vantage points. I have been wanting to capture this particular view on canvas for some time. I hope I have done it some justice.

December is a busy time for everyone. This year I made almost 4 dozen Christmas cards. About 1/2 of them sold the rest were sent out to family and friends. Today we had our first major snow event of the season. That meant we needed to shovel snow off our houseboat. And of course what is December without a visit with the jolly old elf himself. And yes I have been good all year. No wish list involved. Just my hope that everyone stays safe and healthy this Christmas. Cheers Susan Feniak

#WorldWatercolorMonth Day 23 prompt “Home”. In the warmer months, April through October home is a boat. Not one of these but a houseboat in Sicamous. Despite wildfires and the resulting smoke it’s still home. Thank you to all the firefighters, waterbomber and helicopter crews for keeping our town safe. Such a dangerous job but so amazing to watch.
