“Wave!” SOLD

SOLD. Thank you Becky at Three Buoys and to the new owners of Wave!. Finished and simply named Wave! This one was a blast to create. A true escape! Admittedly it started as “just” a study for a bigger painting I am planning. Start small go big!

Artist Susan Feniak. Golden Artist Acrylics on 12″ x 16″ gallery canvas. My new “Princeton velvetouch” brushes were a joy to work with. This painting will get varnished and will be on display and for sale at Three Buoys Marina in Sicamous. $85.00

“Seaside Moment”

“Seaside Moment”. I think that will be the name of my latest painting. I don’t as a rule paint people or children. I decided to challenge myself and tackle my nemesis. And it is on a bigger canvas too. Nothing like challenging oneself and having fun while doing it. Artist Susan Feniak. Golden Artist Acrylics on 24″ x 24″ x 1.5″ thick canvas. Asking $350.00 plus shipping.

WIP

Work in progress on my easel. It’s waiting for me to finish. After several beautiful sun filled days yesterday we had clouds with showers. It was an art attack kind of day. I am never sure if I should share my works in progress. Being self taught my progress could seem very wrong to the experts. But it works for me. Artist Susan Feniak. Golden Artist Acrylics on 24″ x 24″ canvas.

“Higuera Blanca Breakers”

Higuera Blanca Breakers

“Higuera Blanca Breakers”. While visiting Mexico this past winter I was inspired many times. Perhaps the beach we visited with friends while at Higuera Blanca inspired me the most. It had been a wild windy morning and the Pacific Ocean had whipped itself into an amazing show of powerful frothy surf. Standing on the beach left one feeling dwarfed by the size of the breakers. It was exhilarating. Froth, salt spray, wind and all.

Since our stay in Mexico I am struck by how life has changed. Not just for me personally but for everyone. This is a worldwide crises that includes us all. New expressions like self isolating and social distancing have become our new normal. Being house bound isn’t a difficult thing for an artist. It provides extra hours for one to be creative. There is no fear of boredom. There is no opportunity for that thought to enter our busy minds. For those that are struggling with being “stuck” at home may I suggest that you get yourself some crayons and paper and draw. Be creative. Creativity is the perfect escape from these challenging times. You never know you could very well surprise yourself and us.

Higuera Blanca Breakers is acrylic on 18″ x 24″ x 1.5″ thick canvas. Painted on all sides no frame needed. Artist Susan Feniak. $300

“Ocean Jewel”

Ocean Jewel. Something new and different. Artist Susan Feniak. Golden acrylics on a 20″ x 20″ x 1.5″ thick canvas. No frame needed. Hope you like this bit of bling. To achieve the texture on the starfish I used a thick layer of Goldens gel gloss.

“Ocean Jewel” a better photo.

“Shine On”

“Shine On”. This is how I deal with the cold snowy days of our Canadian winter. I dream of a sunny warmer climate and swimming with a smiling Tortuga. And then create that scene on my easel. I hope Shine On makes you feel warm and cozy. If a tortuga can smile then so can we. No matter what. Artist Susan Feniak. Golden Artist Acrylics on 24″ x 24″ canvas. I may have to keep this one for a little while. An update: since posting this my tortuga has been given a name, Trudy. Trudy now greets everyone entering our front door with her smile.

Contemplation

Contemplation. If you don’t know me or my art you won’t know I rarely paint people. In fact I can’t remember the last time I tackled a selfie let lone another person. In my world that makes this painting special. The sunset adds to the contemplative moment I tried to capture here. Artist Susan Feniak. Koi watercolour on 8″×10″ Fabriano paper.

Happy Place

Play time is art time. A happy place is at the beach. Any beach. The happiest place of all? On our boat. I hope to be spending time on our happiest place of all soon. In the meantime I will paint a beach, any beach will do. Smiling. Artist Susan Feniak. QoR watercolor and ink 8″ x 10″ Fabriano paper.

“Dan’s Canvas & Sail”

Dan’s Canvas and Sail is finally done! I am actually pleased with how this one turned out. It was nice to visit one of my favourite subjects again. I wonder how this scene would play out on my easel using acrylics? Might have to try that one day. Artist Susan Feniak. QoR watercolor and ink on Fabriano 11″ x 14″ paper. Unframed $100.
