Mr Heron

Mr Heron

Mr Heron. Also known to me as The Three Buoys Great Blue Heron. He’s back! I think every year I pay respect to the return of the Blue Heron on Shuswap Lake. Such a beautiful bird to watch. Truly a favorite of mine.

Artist Susan Feniak. QoR watercolors and Pixma Micron ink on 8″ x 10″ Fabriano paper.

A White Heart

I read in our local paper this weekend about the White Heart Project. The Shuswap Hospital Foundation requested that we show our support of health care workers by hanging a white heart on our doors. I decided to participate. Since our white heart would hang on a door that very few will see I am going to hang it in a window. I doubt it matters where one hangs their white heart as long as one shows how thankful they are to all the Doctors, nurses, caregivers and support staff that are working endlessly to keep as many as possible safe and well. Thank you. Two words that seem like such a small gesture of support. Perhaps if everyone participated all the health care workers would feel our gratitude and support. Hang a White Heart on your door or in your window and give thanks for being as fortunate as we are. The White Heart is a symbol of HOPE. We are lost without hope. Take care everyone. Hugs and hope Susan Feniak

On hiatus

Punta de Mita sunset

I prefer sandy beaches and sunshine to a snowy and cold Canadian winter. Ergo I am on hiatus in Mexico and away from blogging. Maybe by the time I return to my Canadian home it will be sunnier and warmer. Here’s hoping. In the meantime I am sharing some photos. Enjoy.

“Shine On”

“Shine On”. This is how I deal with the cold snowy days of our Canadian winter. I dream of a sunny warmer climate and swimming with a smiling Tortuga. And then create that scene on my easel. I hope Shine On makes you feel warm and cozy. If a tortuga can smile then so can we. No matter what. Artist Susan Feniak. Golden Artist Acrylics on 24″ x 24″ canvas. I may have to keep this one for a little while. An update: since posting this my tortuga has been given a name, Trudy. Trudy now greets everyone entering our front door with her smile.

Hermit Bay

Hermit Bay. My latest painting. I need to come up with a name for this one yet. This was the view from our kitchen window on our houseboat last week while beached at Hermit Bay on Shuswap Lake. How fortunate am I to have this view rain or shine while cooking our meals? This painting is acrylic on 12″ x 16″ box canvas. Cheers Susan

Haven Point Cabin

You are the first to see this one. I finished it this afternoon. Knowing me it could end up with some revisions but for now I am pleased to say “Haven Point Cabin” is done. Those who know my art may remember that I have painted this cabin before. Twice as a matter of fact. But this is a different view and a few years on from my previous attempts. Both of my other versions have found homes so hopefully this one will too. This spot on the Shuswap inspires me. It is another of my happy places. Artist Susan Feniak. Golden acrylics on 16″ x 20″ box canvas painted on all sides. No frame needed. Based on a photo taken by me. $250.00
