It’s almost time for the annual arts and crafts sale at The Red Barn Arts Center in Sicamous BC. I will have four paintings in the show this year along with several of my “one of a kind” hand painted greeting cards. “Breakpoint”. Artist Susan Feniak. Acrylic on 12″ x 24″ gallery canvas. There is something about a 12″ x 24″ canvas that screams paint a wave Susan. So I do. Waves fascinate me. This past weekend I sold a painting. “Waves Brilliant Dance”, found a new home. I am always grateful to have someone like my art enough to hang it in their home. I appreciate the fact that art is a personal thing. Thank you to the new owners.
Now, I need to announce that I have new art promotional cards. And I need to thank Hooked Decor and What Knots in Sicamous for displaying my cards again this year. Check out the store. It is full of lovely decor items and inspiration for interior decorating. You can’t miss a real houseboat that is an actual store sitting beside the Trans Canada Highway in Sicamous. “Tropical Daze” is framed and ready to hang in someone’s home. I have included a couple of photos of my process for you. Palette knife painting is different from my usual brush work. I do enjoy playing with a palette knife. It’s very different and makes for a lot of texture. I also used cheesecloth and when I used a brush it was loosely, almost carefree. The scene reminds me of a tropical getaway. Something I didn’t get to enjoy this winter. Maybe next year? In the meantime dreaming and remaining hopeful will suffice. Cheers Susan

Celebrating 10 years, here on WordPress.
“Tropical Daze” is the title I have given to my latest fun painting. After another set back I am forging ahead with my art. I won’t let rejection get me down, not this gal. This is a brand new painting on my easel, still drying. I certainly enjoyed using my palette knife while creating this piece. I used a palette almost exclusively. There is very little brush work. I did make use of some cheesecloth to add different texture, especially to the clouds. All in all great fun. It seems that these days if I am not thinking about spring I am thinking about some tropical paradise. Or so it would seem by my artistic endeavors. My new easel is no longer new looking. Tropical Daze is acrylic and gloss medium on a 20″ x 20″ gallery canvas, framed with a metal white frame. Asking $200

Happy New Year! Wishing you all a happy, healthy and creative 2021. Let’s be positive.
This is a “selfie” of me. I don’t like getting my photo taken nor do I do selphies well. They are something I will rarely share.
The other photo is my “Top Nine” posts on Instagram in 2020. Not my choices but Instagram’s. Interesting and somewhat surprising. I was happy to see my personal favorite “Shine On” a.k.a. Trudy Tortuga made the list. Amazed my watercolors and ink were as popular as they are. Go figure.
Moving on to new projects and I am hopeful the year ahead will be better. Surely being positive will see us through. Cheers Susan

World Watercolor Month Day 26 prompt “Favorite Song”. We are a music loving household. That made it difficult to choose one song. There have been so many artists that we have listened to over many years. Our play list is long and varied. There is one song that I sing to myself often enough to single out and that is Rhythm of My Heart by Rod Stewart. The verse and the bagpipes pull at my heart. I created this painting with QoR watercolors and Pixma Micron ink on Strathmore card stock.
