I am thrilled to say that three of my paintings were juried into The Federation of Canadian Artists Curated online Show July and August. This is a big step in the right direction for me. I entered my work some time ago and by the time I learned that all three had been accepted Waves Brilliant Dance had sold. Ergo I had to withdraw that painting. One framed: Once again I called upon my friend to make a frame. My painting “Quietude” needed one of her rustic board frames. I think she did a great job. Many thanks and some wine was involved. THIS PAINTING IS SOLD!
One named: I let my husband make the final decision and he chose “Center Stage” for my latest painting. There were only three votes made and I couldn’t make up my mind. This water lily was inspired by our pond that we used to have. And if I must give more credit I will have to say that an article in the magazine Watercolor Artist, summer 2021 also inspired me to revisit painting a water lily. It’s been awhile. Center Stage is my loosely based acrylic version of a watercolor painting in the article about the artist Brent Funderburk. His work is beautiful.

“Center Stage” or “Pond Gem”? My latest painting is finished and drying on my easel. As yet I haven’t decided on a title. Although I know the focal point of a painting really shouldn’t be dead center, somehow this water lily seemed to deserve center stage. I haven’t painted a water lily in a very long time. “Show Stopper”. My latest acrylic painting is of a photo I took while in Mexico a year or so ago. Before COVID, when we were still allowed to travel. This beautiful pink hibiscus greeted us on the path that led to our condo. I couldn’t resist taking a photo. And I have been meaning to do a painting of it since.

“Spring’s Bounty” and “Tulip Glow” both got frames this weekend. I am fortunate to have a great friend who is happy to build frames for my art. I think she did a fantastic job. I think both paintings needed the rustic barn board look. Being a watercolor Spring’s Bounty is under anti glare glass. Don’t ask my husband how much that cost. Oops. Always get a price before ordering. Just saying. Both pieces are original and available for sale. You can see them and pricing in previous posts.
